My favorites are the local food bank, United Way, Good Will and the Salvation Army. I also give to my alma mater although that is not a charity in the strictest sense.

I will open a thread on "charity" fraud, as that is a huge and growing problem for law enforcement, especially with CNN's report this week of how a disabled veteran organization has been scammed out of tens of millions of dollars by the fundraisers.
