After 76 years, the supernova finally burned out.

The universe just became a lot smaller.

My Favorite Hawking cameo is on this Pink Floyd song from their Mid-90's release The Division Bell.

It is remarkable that although he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease when he was about 21 years old, he lived as long as he did.

My brother-in-law was diagnosed with ALS, and finally passed away much later than the five year life expectancy he was given at the time of diagnosis. (I think he lasted about ten years or so.)

Hawking was not only a very smart man, but also had a very strong character. He was a manly man!
