Rank for AndyK

Post by wserra »

For those who don't know, AndyK is a longtime member under other logins (it's a long story). He has posted that he's retired from the IRS, although I'm not sure of his former position. On retirement he moved from the DC area to somewhere slower-paced to the South. He's quite knowledgeable about the IRC and IRS procedures.

He may have been ranked in an earlier incarnation - probably was - but, if so, I don't recall it. Among the mods, he's known as an "off-with-their-heads" type of guy.

The floor is open for nominations.

Ooh! Oooh! I know what he did! I know what he did! Call on me!

He was the one in charge of issuing the hobnailed boots and cattle prods.

Senior analyst and then branch manager in the Office of Chief Counsel. For those who didn't know, Chief Counsel is the largest (and best) tax law firms in the nation. It has one client: the IRS. And, it's a lot easier to win Tax Court cases when you are the ones to write the laws and regulations.

On retirement he moved from the DC area to somewhere slower-paced to the South.

I'd prefer "put up with no nonsense", but heads are fine as a last resort -- after the jackboots fail. By the way, one of the few special retirement benefits of the IRS is that we get to keep the boots.

Unwashed gun slingin' sov'runs get to retire into crude bomb shelters and spider-holes. IRS senior officials get to retire to Sun City Hilton Head. That's the reward for spending a lifetime oppressing the unwashed masses.

OK, that didn't go anywhere...

How about recognizing that Andy is a righteous, stand-up guy?

Great ideas -- except that I don't participate in cow pasture pool (golf; for the outsiders)

My mistake, I thought you mentioned golf once. What you did mention was:

Lawn bowling:

Well, time to head out for the weekly neighborhood bocce tournament

Temporal confusion, Bridge, and Early-Bird Specials:

The only real markers of the days of the week, now, are Wednesday (when the grocery ads come in the newspaper) and Sunday when the color comics arrive.

Other than that, it doesn't matter what day it is. The only difference is which restaurant has their early bird and which house is hosting the afternoon bridge game.

So that, and the IRS, provide some topics to work with.

As an aside my wife and I took a two week driving vacation in the deep south a few years ago. Spent a great day in Charleston touring the USS Yorktown.
