Rodney Krzykowski: sovern on the school board

Post by Lambkin »

Nice long article in the Albany Times-Union about a sovereign nut elected to the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school board. Complete with crazy coot photo.
http://www.timesunion.com/default/artic ... 432704.php
The FBI considers beliefs like his akin to a domestic terrorism threat.

He owes $49,387 in town and Albany County taxes.

And he sits on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school board, heading the finance committee.

Rodney Krzykowski's back taxes and political beliefs have drawn concern from residents at recent school board meetings. They question how an elected official who files documents typical of a sovereign citizen, a movement where members claim they are exempt from the government's laws, can uphold an oath to defend the Constitution.

The tea party dipsticks who elected him are probably not the parents voicing concerns now. Just because you home-school your kids doesn't mean you can't vote a nut-job onto the school board.

From the article:
His property is cluttered with tires, mounds of dirt, old cars and 18-wheeler trailers.
Which sounds like it might be the punchline to a Jeff Foxworthy joke.

Which makes me wonder: Is a "sovereign citizen" just a redneck with pretensions?

Taxpayer questions sovrun's role in managing tax dollars
http://www.timesunion.com/opinion/artic ... 507421.php
Letter: 'Sovereign' life is just a scam
I am outraged as a fellow taxpayer that someone who doesn't pay his taxes gets to make decisions on how the rest of our tax dollars are spent.

I would suggest anyone who wants to proclaim himself a sovereign citizen should live as a sovereign. A dictionary definition of sovereign says: "an autonomous state." Further definition of autonomous says: "capable of existing independently of the whole."

Fine, let them live independently from the whole of taxpaying society. That definition would relegate them to what property they may own and whatever resources that land allows for sustenance.

Apparently Krazy Krzykowski is not the only fool on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School Board school board. This article adds some color to Krzykowski's engagements with the law, but the primary topic is arrests relating to a fight between two other members of the school board. Somebody needs to teach this school board to sing barbershop.

http://www.timesunion.com/local/article ... 599513.php
The president of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School Board was arrested after an argument with the father of the board's vice president, who was also charged, police said.

Board President John Vadney, 55, was charged Saturday with aggravated harassment, police said.
District Superintendent Elisabeth Smith released a statement Thursday in which she said Vadney's arrest followed an argument with board Vice President Josephine O'Connor's father.
Bethlehem police also charged Joseph Tracey on May 25 with aggravated harassment. Tracey is O'Connor's father.

Bethlehem Lt. Thomas Heffernan said Tracey was charged with leaving a message for a victim in which he threatened to cause harm, although the lieutenant did not confirm that the victim was Vadney.
...and the Krzykowski update you were expecting...
Board member Rodney Krzykowski was in Bethlehem Town Court on May 15 in an ongoing case charging him with code violations. In court documents, he identifies himself with the Sovereign Citizen movement, some of whose members have been known to be hostile to law enforcement.

Krzykowski was charged with the violations, alleging he accumulated excessive amounts of trash, tall weeds, overgrown plants and inoperable or unregistered vehicles on his property in November in Coeymans, but justices in that town recused themselves and the case was moved to Bethlehem.

In court on May 15, Krzykowski insisted on representing himself and Judge Mark Jordan continued the case to June 19 in hopes of reaching a disposition.

The sovereign life, that's the life for me!

Code violation charges against Coeymans resident and school board member Rodney Krzykowski, alleging excessive garbage, weeds and inoperable or unregistered vehicles on his property will likely be dropped, according to town officials.

In a Bethlehem town court conference Tuesday afternoon, Coeymans building inspector and code enforcement officer Laverne Conrad told the court that Krzykowski had been slowly complying with orders to clean up his Route 143 property.
His property at one point gained a reputation for being cluttered with tires as well as mounds of dirt, old cars and 18-wheeler trailers.

In 2010, he agreed to pay a $2,000 fine after the DEC concluded he had 4,000 to 6,000 waste tires on his property without a permit.

http://www.timesunion.com/local/article ... .php
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Teachers Association President Matt Miller and an unnamed resident have filed a petition with the state Education Department to remove RCS Board of Education member and self-proclaimed "sovereign citizen" Rodney Krzykowski from the board.

On Friday, Miller and a petitioner identified as "A.B.," with the backing of the New York State United Teachers union, filed a petition alleging that Krzykowski has "deliberately" refused to pay his school tax bill for more than a decade, making him unsuitable for his role on the board.

The petition alleges that Krzykowski owes $56,225 in delinquent property and school taxes dating back to 2001, and $51,011 in unpaid state taxes dating to 1997.
http://www.timesunion.com/local/article ... hp
A district parent has launched an online petition, hoping to sway state Education Commissioner John King to remove Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Board of Education member and self-proclaimed "sovereign citizen" Rodney Krzykowski from his duties on the board.
The formal petition filed by Miller with the Education Department alleges that Krzykowski owes $56,225 in delinquent property taxes dating back to 2001 and $51,011 in unpaid state taxes dating to 1997.
"If Mr. Krzykowski does not recognize governmental agencies or taxation then he should not be allowed to be a member of an organization that is responsible for the oversight of a community's taxes," the online petition reads.

Krazy Krzykowski replies to calls for his removal...
http://www.timesunion.com/local/article ... 177563.php
Last month, RCS Teachers Association President Matt Miller and an unnamed resident identified as "A.B." filed a petition alleging that Krzykowski has "deliberately" refused to pay his school tax bill for more than a decade, making him unsuitable for his role on the board.

In a general response, filed by the Dec. 17 deadline, Krzykowski said "most if not all (of) the allegations are either untrue, taken out of context, frivolous, self-serving or retaliatory." He also questioned whether petitioner "A.B." might be "fictitious."
...resulting in the following opinion piece in the Albany Times-Union
http://blog.timesunion.com/opinion/put- ... -up/23690/
So Rodney Krzykowski says, does he, that all the compelling and well-documented arguments why he has no business being on the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school board are mostly a bunch of lies? Then let him prove it.

He can start by producing a receipt or cancelled check for the $56,225 in back school and local property taxes and the $51,011 in back state taxes that he long had refused to pay.

That’s right; the burden of proof is entirely on the self-proclaimed “sovereign citizen,” who ironically and defiantly insists on serving in a government he won’t pay for.
