The National Press Club is on the top floor of a very nice office building about three blocks from White House. I have been there quite a few times. The office building itself has offices of a great number of publishers and news services, including foreign news media. The Press Club in the penthouse offers several large meeting rooms for rent, fairly inexpensive for central Washington. I have been to a number of events there when a room was rented -- a reunion of my college alumni in the DC area, a workshop/luncheon by Lexis legal publisher, a couple of business meetings for organizations I belonged to, etc. (Journalists were NOT in attendance and these events were never mentioned in any newspaper.) Schulz is a regular renter of meeting rooms there. For its members the Press Club also has a (very active) bar and a reading room (where dozens of magazines and newspapers are delivered daily). It also has, right by the elevators, a rack where press releases and giveaway publications are piled for anyone to take.

I am a Ron Paul fan. Unfortunately, so are a lot of wackos. Such as Mr. Schulz. This is a common problem with any fringe movement, left or right. They see someone else on the fringe getting a little bit of attention, and they swarm onto the bandwagon.

I'm not a Ron Paul fan, but I do respect the guy, and also respect people like Brandybuck who are fans of his. Unfortunately, Brandybuck is right -- there are too many wackos out there, of every political variety, who look for a suitable bandwagon to board. Back in college, there was a fringe political group which existed for a short period of time. First, they formed; second, they agreed on a common ideology. Third, they began searching for ANY group or cause with which they could Declare [Their] Solidarity. Unfortunately, "fourth", for them, was their acrimonious dissolution over minute questions of ideology.
