My new tax code!
Ah, the excitement at the Famspear household this evening, February 21, 2018!
We find a heavy package at the door. Trembling with excitement, we open it. And it's the Winter 2018 edition of the Internal Revenue Code from CCH -- the desk copy, reflecting the amendments under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act!
Some folks get excited about a new car! A new bike! A new smart phone! A new girl friend!
Hah!
What is all that, when I now have two volumes, over 5,500 pages, of single-spaced, small type Internal Revenue Code???!!? Shiny red covers! Margins in which I can scribbled my penciled notes!
Never mind that it's already incomplete, of course, since it does not reflect the changes to the Code under Public Law 115-123, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018.

While the our host generously provides unlimited space, I think they would have an issue with you uploading a 52 terabyte movie of the event that triggered Mount Vesuvius.

I was a tax auditor for over 30 years so I'm probably no better than Famspear. I'd probably just post tax porn. It's a sad, pathetic fetish.

Since it's not positive law, what good is it?

I can see one now: "The Code actually provides that only nonresident aliens receiving FRN's in federal enclaves are liable for the income tax. I have discovered a truly marvelous proof of this, which this margin is too narrow to contain."Famspear wrote:Margins in which I can scribbled my penciled notes!
This will go down in history as Famspear's Last Theorem.

I remember watching and enjoying that BBC documentary on Andrew Wiles and Fermat's Last Theorem. Sheesh. The complexity! The obscurity! The math! Kinda like the Internal Revenue Code......Cpt Banjo wrote:I can see one now: "The Code actually provides that only nonresident aliens receiving FRN's in federal enclaves are liable for the income tax. Re: My new tax code!
I just love how the thin, almost translucent pages make that crisp popping sound when leafing through using just a quick flick of a thumb which is sometimes moistened with a lick to give better traction against the almost tracing paper like pages they use. The smell of the fresh ink and paper when you crack the spine of your fresh copy open to your go to section, which for me is subchapter K, although lately Chapter 3 and 4 have become must reads. I have to say I am Jealous, I am still waiting for my damned approval to get me one of those puppies. Although at this point, it will be the next version, likely coming quite soon... Anyway, Lucky you, enjoy.
EDIT: Just sent a follow up request for my copy. However they want $200 for it now days. I don't think I have ever had to actually buy one before, vendors used to give away Code, Regs, Master Tax Guides, REIT Handbooks, and tax calendars. I didn't even get my RIA calendar this year. The world is crumbling....

APPROVED, APPROVED, APPROVED
I will soon be joining Famspear, and will soon share in some of that wonderful thin pressed wood pulp fibers stamped with the freshest of printer ink that would make even Gutenberg Jealous. Still, I may now have to wait until the next printing. Will let you know

Re: My new tax code!
One of the not inconsequential joys of retirement is that I never have to look at the Income Tax Act again.
