I doubt you will find any here who have said that trusts are all illegal.

The sales pitch usually begins with a reference to millionaires and billionaires who pay so little in taxes because they shield their assets in...trusts. Yes, you too can be as fortunate as the Kennedy clan, paying little if anything in taxes. But the "pure" trust is actually better because (insert b.s.). A lot of questions remain unanswered, like, why would the federal government allow such a simple (secret) plan to allow citizens to shield all assets from taxes? That letter to Gregory Karl, CPA, from the IRS was useful to assuage remaining fears, stating that for tax purposes, pure trusts are fully legal. I wonder what happened to all those people who bought Lynn Meredith's "pure" trusts. Was it used as proof of willfullness in tax fraud?
