Since the board's last implosion four years ago, we have only touched on this guy. He's worth more attention, if only for the amusement value. Even on the bell curve of self-proclaimed TP gurus, this guy is several standard deviations from the mean. For example, he's (obviously) not a lawyer - but that doesn't stop him from writing things like:

I first noticed him in a recent comment he made about our buddy LB Bork. Ewing's comments leave monitors around the world coated in spittle.

As jaded as we get with TP cruelty and stupidity, here's one I had a hard time believing. I also thought over whether I should write it at all, given the real victim of the story. But the fact that writing is not likely to do further harm, combined with how well these events show the selfishness and conceit of these idiots, make it (I think) worth writing.

In 2007, Ewing and one Katherine West sued a hospital, a municipality and the usual TP cast of thousands over circumstances surrounding the birth of a baby boy, whom Ewing describes in the complaint as his and West's son. The complaint is 52 pages of TP/sovrun gibberish. Ewing claims various civil rights violations based on his treatment, which largely seem to center on how he was not properly accorded exalted status as a "tribal court attorney". In addition, he claims "assault and battery" (for drawing blood and administering medication) and HIPAA violations for disclosing information. Feel free to read it yourselves.

What protected health information did medical personnel disclose, you might ask? Well, the information that Mom and infant had multiple illegal drugs in their systems. The facts as the court found them on the successful motions for dismissal/summary judgment:

On December 6, 2005, Plaintiff Katherine West presented to Good Samaritan Hospital in labor. She was 33 years old at the time, had three prior children, two prior C-sections, and had not received any prenatal care during this pregnancy. Dr. Kenneth Edstrom performed a C-section and delivered a baby boy (whom plaintiffs call Baby Boy West). When Ms. West registered at GSH, she told the clerk she was single and unemployed, and listed her father as her next of kin and the only emergency contact. She did not mention Luis Ewing. Mr. Ewing later told the hospital social worker that he was the baby's father, but refused to sign a paternity affidavit. He was allowed to visit the baby after Ms. West placed a hospital armband on him. His visitation rights were later revoked by CPS due to his behavior. Ms. West consented to the administration of medical treatments and tests when she was admitted to GSH. Shortly after Ms. West's delivery, her urine drug screen came back positive for methamphetamine, ecstasy and marijuana. Her newborn's pediatrician ordered that the baby be placed in the special care nursery for monitoring, and pursuant to Washington law, Child Protective Services was notified. Later that evening, Baby Boy West developed increased respiratory distress and needed supplemental oxygen. Ms. West signed a consent for GSH to provide medical care and treatment to Baby Boy West and a consent for the hearing screening examination, but refused the Hepatitis B vaccine. Therefore, the Hep B vaccine was not given. Per physician orders, Baby Boy West received the standard dose of Vitamin K3 and ophthalmic ointment.

While at GSH, Baby Boy West exhibited a number of drug withdrawal symptoms, including
difficulty with feedings (eventually requiring gavage feeding), increased jitteriness, runny stools, increased muscle tone, and reflux. He remained under a police hold until December 8, and then was placed under CPS custody per a Voluntary Placement Agreement Ms. West signed. Ms. West was allowed supervised visits. However, Ms. West and Mr. Ewing were uncooperative with CPS during Baby Boy West's admission, and eventually CPS directed that they both be denied hospital visitation. On December 13, Ms. West attempted to take the baby from the nursery unlawfully, and was arrested by the Puyallup Police.

Under the direction of CPS, Baby Boy West was transferred to the Pediatric Interim Care
Center on December 14, 2005 for care and treatment of his drug-withdrawal symptoms. Baby Boy West remained at PICC until he was discharged to the care of Ms. West on December 22, 2005.

So Ewing comes in with the mother of his kid, whose only prenatal care consisted of pot, meth and ecstasy. Kid comes into the world very sick as a result. Once hospital personnel can get rid of the nutcase druggie parents, they nurse the kid back to some degree of health. Parents then sue them.

For the first time in a long while, I'm speechless.
