"Must Watch" Video (RobbRyder)

Post by wserra »

Some blogger named RobbRyder has discovered the Holy Grail of videos. In it, "this judge makes my point better than I can…I’ve only got 20 minutes in.. and already.. he has explained how the system works". It's a "a must watch… again, and again, and again.."

I hate to break this to ya, Robb, but that "Supreme Court Justice" is LeRoy Schweitzer. He made that video a couple of months before the Montana Freemen standoff. A few months later, he was serving a 22-year federal sentence. He died last fall, underground, in the Florence SuperMax. He sure did know "how the system works".

A fine example of "it's on the internet, so it must be true" - or, alternatively, "that's what I think, so it must be true".

Does anyone know what happened to those two fools who showed up at Schweitzer's prison with "Marshal of Montana" badges, claiming they were there to escort him to another location? One of those geniuses was in his 80s when they tried that stunt.

I read somewhere that they were facing charges of "impersonating a law enforcement officer", but know little else. That stunt is what got Schweitzer moved from a South Carolina prison to the Supermax.

The two "Montana Marshals" that tried to free Schweitzer in 2003 were Ervin Elbert Hurlbert and Donald Little.

Hurlbert, who was 82 at the time of the crime, pled guilty to one count of impersonating a federal officer and was sentenced to time served. He died two years ago.

Donald Little filed a zillion sovereign styled documents in his case, was ordered to undergo a psych evaluation, and was found incompetent. The government later dismissed the case against him. Last I heard, Don's still actively pushing the sovereign crap.

I agree with Gregg's suggestion but on a tuba. Definitely a tuba.

Not a tuba, harpsichord.

If only Ted Cassidy were still alive to play it.

A button that automatically does something? I tried that once, but it almost ripped the universe in two. Or three. I can't remember. Shit like that always happens when something that requires user input operates without user input.

Better yet, Dueling Tubas. Remember Martin Mull and his great parody of Dueling Banjos with the tubas and his song called "A Girl named Johnny Cash." Geez, why is it I only remember stuff like that.

Actually the greatest TV theme of all time (down all you Mr. Ed and Gilligan's Island fans) was played on the harpsichord. The original instrumental opening theme to the 1960-1968 British Spy show Danger Man. It was shown in the US as Secret Agent Man with a new, totally forgettable, theme song by Johnny Rivers.

However for the Darth Vader theme I'm still going with the tuba. Seems a perfect fit.

The theme to Secret Agent wasn't that forgettable: it had a great tag line.

A minor quibble about your memory of the lyrics, It's actually;

They've given you a number,
and taken away your name.

And Johnny Rivers can't replace the Danger Man credits opening of aerial shots of Patrick McGoohan driving through early 60s London with the harpsichord theme driving the scene.

That was cool, no doubt about it (just watch the first minute).

And, as good as it is, this video isn't the classic opening I was referring to. In that one the theme accompanies Patrick McGoohan tootling around London in a Mini Cooper. Not quite the normal transportation mode for secret agents.
