Zippi - eBay-based MLM

Post by TheSaint »

I just got a call from an old business colleague, who pitched me on something Zippi. Apparently, they're trying to make an MLM out of selling stuff on eBay.

You would become a local "virtual consignment specialist" who would be in charge of picking stuff up from local people and coordinating the eBay sale of it. There's some kind of 60-35-5 commission scheme, but isn't clear who gets what. There was the standard "business opportunity" offer, which goes from $50 to $2000. The $2000 option includes some sort of handheld device that allows you to instantly create an eBay entry from the pickup site, thus saving you the endless minutes it would take to drive home. Of course, you have to sign up underlings, and you get a small piece of their sales.

Most interestingly, my colleague gave me "this is brand new, hot hot hot, getting in on the ground floor" speech... but the web.archive.org entry for zippi.com indicates that this opportunity has been offered since at least 2005.
