For anyone interested in how it is that seemingly ordinary people are drawn into the OPCA Alice in Wonderland, this link to an extended 2004 email by founding detaxer Tom J Kennedy (aka Tommy No:Usury or later Tommy UsuryFree) of Ottawa talks about how he went from having a job as a teacher and a family to it all falling apart:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/gemb36rca ... 1.pdf/file
In it, Kennedy talks candidly about how he spent over $100,000 on his "alt.politics" and the impact this had on his marital breakdown and children. Kennedy's alt.politics unfortunately involved a rogues gallery including Ernst Zundel, Dave Lindsay, John Turmel, and David Icke. In terms of the impact on his family, in 2003 Kennedy was ultimately ordered to pay over $100,000 in back spousal and child support that was then garnished from his teacher pension in addition to failing in his lawsuit to stop his board of eduction from deducting taxes because he wasn't a 'person' and taxation was voluntary - see:
Kennedy v. Canada (Customs & Revenue Agency), 2000 CanLII 22837 (ON SC), <http://canlii.ca/t/1wd1t>
Kennedy was a mixed bag though who spent years engaged in community economic development by promoting local currencies in his hometown of Tamworth. If only he'd focused his efforts there and not the detax world. Kennedy died in 2016 of natural causes.
Kennedy's email is a cautionary tale about how fast things can fall apart.

A really good point about the fallout/destruction of families/reputations/careers of OPCA practitioners.
The fact that you sincerely and wholeheartedly believe that the “Law of Gravity” is unconstitutional and a violation of your sovereign rights, does not absolve you of adherence to it.

Re: Tom J Kennedy's descent into madness
Kennedy was a very early court decision in the Paradigm epic and the key case eviscerating the entire scheme. It's effect was to demolish the entire underlying foundation of Paradigm's argument that Paradigm followers could legally escape being taxpayers and therefore not subject to Canadian income tax just by declaring themselves to be 'natural persons', a term unknown in Canadian income tax law. Kennedy was decided in 2000 however Russell Porisky and his followers ignored Kennedy and continued promoting the Paradigm income tax evasion scheme until 2008. I've cited Kennedy frequently over the years while doing my Paradigm postings, the last time being, I believe, this one where I quote extensively from it in respect to Michael Millar's conviction appeal hearing;

Tom Kennedy and his case did not have its own discussion until now because I'm the poster who started the ball rolling on the Paradigm scheme and I have done, by far, the most work on reporting it. However I didn't join Quatloos until 2011, eleven years after Kennedy was decided, when I made my very first posting on Chandler Turnnir and Eva Sydel, both Paradigm tax evaders.

So Kennedy had been an established precedent for over a decade before I started my Quatloos Paradigm postings and I saw no need to make a dedicated posting about ancient history.

I'm 71 so I think I qualify.
