If Irwin Schiff is in heaven, he is in a heaven where the 16th Amendment was not, in fact, ratified and is invalid. If he is in ...the "other place", he is experiencing a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG face-to-face audit with a grumpy IRS agent or twelve.

Quite sober thank you. Why the concern?

My beer-swilling companion and I prefer that they not be called "benders". We are researching malt-based beverage dispensing establishments.

A sad, wasted, and utterly useless life. If he had just been honest he could have lived happily and spent his declining years with his loved ones, as it is, all he has as a memorial is that he passed his wasted, useless life and beliefs and the bitterness that went with it on to the next generation so that they can destroy their lives, and the lives of their families as well.

I'm sure there is something really appropriate in Latin, but I can't think of it just now.

It's amazing he lasted as long as he did. 87 is old for prison, especially when you're a diabetic with lung cancer.

There should be a NY Times obituary coming out. Schiff was one of the 2000 obits they keep in a file, pre-written and updated as needed.

In 1913, the 16th Amendment — which grants Congress the power to collect income taxes “without apportionment among the several States” — was ratified. Since then, no legal argument against the income tax has been upheld.
That pretty much sums it up.

Peter Schiff weighs in on the death of his father, a "patriot" who "opposed the Federal Government’s illegal and unconstitutional enforcement and collection of the income tax."

He also states that his father died from skin cancer "that went undiagnosed and untreated while he was in federal custody," and that he received "virtually no medical care at all, not even for the cataracts that left him legally blind."

At the end, Peter compares his father to William Wallace, in the movie "Braveheart." (No "Matrix" allusions, though.)

I was introduced to the entire subject of criminal tax protesters through the discovery of one of Irwin Schiff's books many years ago, as noted here:

I'd give him a pass as well, but "eulogizing" and "self-serving nonsensical rant" aren't really the same thing.
