Suppose your friends call you al caps, and some cops so amicably and graciously escort you to a courtroom where a judge greets you with "Are you al caps - capped either way?", to which you answer, "my friends call me al caps", whereupon the judge reiterates the question; what on Earth is going on here?
What's that? Oh, you thought my argument was about capitalization - how pitiful of you!
