Fogbow is a little more wild west than Quatloos and a little more laissez-faire in what is allowed as comment. As long as you bear that in mind, it is entertaining. I tend to lurk there rather than post.CrankyBoomer wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:16 am Is Fogbow worth a visit? I've seen it mentioned a couple of times.

Re: Just random thoughts...
I would amend the comment from Sage. Fogbow is not as singularly focused on its mission as Quatloos, so the "wild west" aspect is perhaps expressed in terms of subject matters that are discussed. The standards for behavior are roughly similar to those here, and various mods will wield the ban hammer when necessary... those looking for combat don't last long, either because they are ignored or because they are banned. So I wouldn't characterize it as "wild west" in the way the broader cesspool of the social media world is.AnOwlCalledSage wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:23 amFogbow is a little more wild west than Quatloos and a little more laissez-faire in what is allowed as comment. Quatloos is vastly richer in coverage of SovCits and scammers outside the US. People like "Eric", Donald Netolitzky and Burnaby49 are unmatched in their knowledge and actual contact with the FOOTL/SovCit world.
There's a lot of political commentary and news analysis on Fogbow, almost uniformly anti-GOP. People from the right who followed community norms and who had more original thoughts than simply parroting Fox News talking points would be welcomed but those who simply try to "own the libs" wouldn't last long. There were some people who tried a few years ago and they didn't last long, because they were ignored or banned. Trolling doesn't work there, as it doesn't work here.
So I'd say that if you are looking for a similar style of community to Quatloos, but a broader reach of discussions, then you might try Fogbow.

Also Quatloos goes very deep in sovereign history, at least Canadian sovereign history. Although I didn't start seriously posting on this until about 2012 or so various topics, such as Robert Menard, the most important of the Canadian freemen, go back to the late 1990s. Fogbow, very unfortunately, has no history at all because its database was quite recently destroyed and all past postings are gone.

Absolutely fair comment. Fogbow does allow far more political and religious discussion than would be tolerated here but you are correct that an underlying civility is still required.JohnPCapitalist wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 4:44 pm Fogbow is not as singularly focused on its mission as Quatloos, so the "wild west" aspect is perhaps expressed in terms of subject matters that are discussed. I do think however that, whilst Gavin Seim deserves all the effluence posted about him, the personal vituperations about him and his family would not be tolerated on Quatloos. It's a different forum, with a different colour. It may not be to all tastes. I view Quatloos and Fogbow as complementary rather than rivals.

Fogbow was originally dedicated to the BIRFER phenomenon of the Obama era and the legal stylings of the great Orly Taitz and the many many many legal abject fails, and well jails too, they generated. That of course has passed with the end of the Obama Administration. Birfers never learn, so of course they are still around, still living in the past, still making the same mistakes and fails they made all those years ago, they are truly the comedy that keeps on giving, since they don't have any kind of life otherwise. That being said, the group branched out to sovcits and other sillies that continue to provide a never ending stream of free and unintended entertainment. At this point it is a as much a social group as it is an information source. The groups interests are quite far ranging and in some cases a bit esoteric, and generally quite enjoyable, and considerably free wheeling.
The fact that you sincerely and wholeheartedly believe that the “Law of Gravity” is unconstitutional and a violation of your sovereign rights, does not absolve you of adherence to it.

Agreed. I visit Fogbow frequently and see many Quatloos contributors on it. I've not registered because I'm more interested in in-depth postings, like my court reporting and court decision analysis, rather than general commenting. But both have their place.AnOwlCalledSage wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 7:09 pmAbsolutely fair comment. I agree that much of the commenting on Fogbow about religion and politics would not be allowed here.

I agree that much of the commenting on Fogbow about religion and politics would not be allowed here.
While religion and politics are considered valid topics for discussion, they seldom, if ever, degenerate into flame wars. Religions discussions usually revolve around some sovereign citizen or die-hard Trump supporter who insists that Jesus wants Trump to be president, or some such nonsense. I can't remember anyone trying to preach to the readers.
Fogbow is much more overtly political. There are threads about Donald Trump, Rudy Guiliani, Margaret Taylor Green and Matt Gaetz. Again, as with the religious discussions, they almost always remain civil.
And, most posters are good about keeping within the basic subject of a thread, so, if you don't like the tone of a particular discussion, it is easy to avoid it.
So, CrankyBoomer, my advice is to go over there and lurk for a while. It won't take long for you to decide if it is your cup of tea or not.

Re: Just random thoughts...
Although one lesson to be learned from is the massive loss of historical data about the various 'characters' in the sovcit world, I was looking for a specific claim a little while back made by one of the US sovcits, and I knew it was on Fogbow (been a lurker there for years), but alas, it was in the predata crash time, and I wasn't able (or willing) to search through the literally thousands of hours of his videos (many of which had been also deleted in the youtube purges anyway)
Even tried the wayback machine in the hopes that some of it may have been collected, but what I want had apparently never been trawled

But not always maintained in practice. Although certainly vastly better than Facebook et al, there was still too much tolerance of snippy, judgemental behaviour towards other posters for my tastes. An interesting and fun place though, I wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting. I'm just a bit of a snowflake when it comes to online social interaction, and prefer Q's "if you can't say anything nice" approach.AnOwlCalledSage wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 7:09 pm

Does anyone ever listen to The Paranoid Strain podcast? Basically it's anti-conspiracy theory (and I know CTs aren't what Quatloos is about) but they had episodes about the evolution of the 'Sovruns' and the Posse Commetatus. Still what CrankyB likes may not be what other people like.

I love Fogbow an awful lot. One criticism I have is as mentioned, its overtly political in places and its almost exclusively leftward. Being the Socialist tree hugging bleeding heart I don't mind the slant, but discussion without opposing views is, as we've learned lately, not healthy.
And that's all I'ma say about that here, so's I don't get myself in trouble.

I, too, like Fogbow. And it is true that there are seldom any truly opposing views expressed. I share your disappointment at the lack of them.Gregg wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 4:13 am I love Fogbow an awful lot. Occasionally, someone will come by and try to post opposing views. Unfortunately, they are mostly irrational zealots, who repeat the lies that they've heard on the internet. They don't last long, as a rule.

I find that, generally, that has been the issue for me, in real life too. I fear there is a lack of real conservative Intelligentsia, able to provide critical thinking and rationalized rebuttals, that don't just parrot talking points that many times aren't even conservative in nature. I often wonder what someone like William F. Buckley Jr would say today. I do miss those types of discussions. I mean did you read Bill Kristol during the election, wonder what Buckley would have thought. Its sad the fine art of debate is being replaced by name-calling, and repetition of catch phrases and audience pandering. Sometimes it just feels like whoever can make up the best shit wins the argument.Occasionally, someone will come by and try to post opposing views. Edit: wouldn't you know, apparently he did write something. Will leave the link here, but not embed as that may cross a line, as it discusses politics, but there none the less in case you are interested.

As a fellow socialist, tree hugging, bleeding heart I think we should uphold the fine traditions of the British political left and have a schism over something utterly pointless in a People's Front of Judea / Popular Front of Judea (SPLITTERS!) way.
So... Which is worse... A capitalist hyena or an imperialist running dog?
I'm going to have to say a capitalist hyena is worse as being a huge fan of sight-hounds I never saw how "running dog" was an insult in the first place.

My favourite Maoist insult has always been 'paper tiger'. I first came across it when of primary school age, and was struck by the poetry of it.
But to return to the matter at hand. What species of hyena? The feminist in me has always been impressed that spotted hyenas have an erectile clitoris and are larger than the males...

While I wouldn't want to get in a fight with one I've always quite liked hyenas so perhaps that's out as an insult too.
How about "Counter-revolutionary lickspittle"?
"Catch-fart" is a good political insult but lacks the Soviet era flavour I'm after.

All of which just proves the theory that once we have beaten, conquered, and eliminated the opposition whom we have despised, smeared and blacklisted over the years, we will just turn on each other. We always desire enemies even if they think, look and act like us. We'll just find something that we hate - even if it was something that didn't bother us before.

For sheer Stalinist cynicism you can't beat 'premature anti-fascist', although it does lack rhetorical flourish.
