CT money is still around, just not as great a deal as at one time. If you paid cash, (not available by cc or debit) it was equivalent to receiving a 5% discount on your purchase and it wasn't hard to accumulate a large wad of the stuff to be used for future purchases. There were even a few bars that I frequented that would accept it.

Canadian tire money is one of the most successful community currencies of all time. Some bars and other places accept it at face value. Therefore you cant pay with that.
