If a tax protester is trying to use the attorney to help him or her commit a future crime or fraud (tax fraud or evasion), the communication would generally not be covered by the attorney-client privilege.Number Six wrote:.....One tax attorney I spoke with even asserted that lawyer-client confidentiality does not apply in cases of tax fraud and evasion (Dan Pilla, Jr.), which makes it less likely that tax protestors will come in from the cold to resolve their tax non-compliance issues and hopefully do it in a way that does not get them noticed in bad ways by the powers that be.
If the tax protester is dealing only with a tax fraud or evasion he or she committed in the past, the attorney-client privilege generally should apply.

Lawyer-client privilege applies to tax cases in exactly the same manner that it applies to all other cases.Number Six wrote:One tax attorney I spoke with even asserted that lawyer-client confidentiality does not apply in cases of tax fraud and evasion

That's not an argument. It's a contradiction.

I'm going to be fair about this. I'm heading down to the library to get a bunch of DVDs of the old BBC Monty Python's Flying Circus and I'll analyze the realtive humor and quality of satire compared to the standard CTC or other tax deniers. Monty's facing pretty heavyweight competition however.
