Unwanted videos

I'm sure some of my friends on Facebook know the answer, but they don't seem to be talking....

On NextDoor, Facebook, and LinkedIn, (among others), when I'm looking at my feed, I see video ads; and, on Facebook and LinkedIn, video posts. I would prefer not to see them unless I'm on WiFi or specifically click on them. I think I know how to do that in the browser, but I also have apps for each of those (and probably others). Any idea how to suppress videos?

I see what you mean...however, it's not what I'm looking for. I only want embedded videos to fail or start as paused. I want to be able to access YouTube if I ask for it directly....

And ....
Method 1 only works from within the browser; it probably won't work for apps.
Method 2 only works if I'm at home (using my router), which is not when I want it to take effect.
The other methods require the app to log in to YouTube in order to access it, which may not be the case.
