GRAND RAPIDS -- A Cedar Springs tax protester pleaded guilty to obstructing Internal Revenue Service agents and tax evasion charges that stem from his work as a self-employed bookkeeper who has claimed no income while preparing returns and selling sham trusts.
Robert Mosher, 60, earlier was convicted of 14 counts of criminal contempt for ignoring a federal judge's 2003 order to stop tax preparation work.
Mosher, who is in the custody of U.S. Marshals, will be sentenced in January. Authorities say he failed to pay any tax on up to $500,000 in income between 2000 and 2003.
