From my perspective, if I was overweight and looking to loose weight - I'd rather rely on someone who has experienced being overweight and succeeded then to rely on a skinny 22 year old female who looks good in spandex but is 5'10 and has never weighed more then 110 lbs.
Granted - she'd be much easier on the eyes, but learning from someone who has lived the experience would likely be far more beneficial.
It's in that spirit I understood Philistines suggestion.
You've been "in"... you know the language.... you have an idea how they think, what they believe, and more importantly
why they believe...... you're far more likely to be successful in explaining why the path they are on will lead to failure then those of us who have never tread in those waters. Sure... we can point out the obvious - but without understanding why they don't understand what we're saying, we don't have the correct communication tools to get through to them.
