That and bagpipes. I have a dream someday of forming a marching band consisting of only these two instruments.

Come on, JRB, we wanna hear some details!
One - I was not alone.

Two - There were much better pickers there.

Three - It got harder and harder to keep up. Suffice it to say all I was doing after a few minutes was tapping my foot and grinning like an idiot.

Ok, we'll include accordions. But we will not, I repeat, will not play "Lady of Spain."

For real accordion fun you must sometime see Paul Finch play (Brave Combo).

Steve Martin is a good banjo player, but for the best in straight-ahead, driving Scruggs-style picking (which, if you're going to do it correctly, is harder than many pickers will admit), you can't beat J. D. Crowe.

From the Police Blotter: Steve Martin Can't Play the Banjo
Wanna bet? :snicker:

Take my word for it, Mr. Martin CAN play the banjo, and I'm not the only one who can testify to that fact based on first-hand knowledge. 8)

I like how the article uses the Grammys as justification that Steve Martin can play the banjo.

Milli Vanilli also won a Grammy.

That's not to say that Steve Martin can't play, but I like how the Grammy is used as proof.
