Actually it is Imalawman who is distorting things. Even in the article about the suit, the reporter admits that it was somebody identifying himself as Jesus Christ that was named. The reporter thought that was just sensational but had to admit the truth of that at the last line or so.

Later she was sensationalizing an attempt to make electronic filing mandatory - same sort of stuff. If an attorney did not like paying $60 filing registration fee then the clerk would assign a hearing at 6 a.m. to decide if he was to be disbarred etc., and the same judge Edward Nottingham would come in all bleary-eyed and grouchy to hear the attorney grovel.

Of course people can still access the courts with paper. I suppose it simply flopped if it ever was a plan...

http://www.co.uscourts.gov/orders/g2005-2.pdf

Read for yourself that was not Nottingham's intent - to in any way deny access to the courts. However the article was loaded with such a slant that I cannot find it anymore.

Anyway, most of my stuff gets stowed in Ranting and Raving because it will be deleted sooner there. Enjoy, and Welcome Lawprof!

David -- do you still have a hard copy of the lawsuit you filed re: your scooter etc? I'd gladly pay you for a hard copy.

Yes

Post by Lawprof »

Yes I am. (Even in these politically correct times!) I'm just fascinated to read an actual complaint that has an object for a plaintiff (a scooter) names Jesus as a defendant and is signed with a fingerprint. I'll have it framed and put it on my office wall.

Is there anyone here who lives in COLO who could get a copy from the Court? I'll pay.

I am an attorney and law professor and have always been amazed (morbidly fascinated) by the subculture of people who have been duped into thinking you can "opt out" of normal society and 1) not pay taxes 2) "land patent" your land and get "allodial title" 3) drive without a driver's license . . . .and on and on.
Other than being a law professor, that exactly describes me, and why I frequent this site along with some of the crazies' sites (like SuiJuris, Legality-of-income-tax, etc.).

Welcome aboard!

Have Demosthenes post the docket and note I am telling you the truth when I say that the Manhattan Judgment docketed a week later came back to a suitor postmarked September 12, 2001. It simply had a sticky on it saying, "Thank You."

I remember the security guards had some kind of problem with me having no government employee ID card a week after 9/11. So the clerk came to the lobby and escorted me in to file it - apologizing for rejecting such a monumental judgment while the Towers came down.

It will take a little to get out of mothballs but call (303) 844-3433 and order it up on the information - of course you might enjoy asking, "Could you search for any cases against Jesus Christ?"

When the CIA delivers the package, note it will be opened to the map of Manhattan Island. Specifically a map found in the Jewish Encyclopedia marking all the Jewish claims there.

I've been trying to track that lawsuit down, too, and have been coming up zilch on Westlaw. My Legal Ethics professor doesn't believe someone would be that insane.

What he's saying, LP, is that because of September 11th, the government was justified in taking his scooter away.

I'm not a law student, and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night either.

I've actually set the bar a little lower for myself: I'm studying to be a paralegal.

Cool

Post by Lawprof »

Cool -- I was wondering how you knew enough about the law to translate what David was saying into something I'd understand.

Seriously, I need to get my hands on a copy of the scooter lawsuit. I think I'll call a delivery service in COLO tomorrow to see how much they'd charge to run over to the courthouse and get me a copy. How many people here would want copies?

The beautiful thing is that since David filed it in court, it is now a public document and as such, he has no copyright interest in it. I can knock off copies and sell for profit if I want!

It will take the clerk a week or so to get it from the archives.

Lawprof; Note how somebody has put an injunction on my font features like [i]italics [/i]and [b]bold[/b]?

Thanks, LP: put me down for a copy.

Davey: It would probably take LP less than five minutes to get it. The reason it takes you a week or more is because they're giving you the Van Pelt discount.

Maybe you've inadvertantly disabled BBCode?

Nope. Not me. But thanks for telling me how to fix it. - like my Signature. What is BB for?
It turns on italics, bold, and underline. It also turns them off when you've disabled them.
