Mitchell Lee Walck is considered armed and dangerous.

Officers tried to pull over Walck for a traffic violation near Highway 53 and N. McCartney Street in Rathdrum, Idaho early Saturday morning. Police said Walck fled from officers, ditched his vehicle and ran up Rathdrum Mountain to escape. Authorities said Walck fired a round at them when officers tried to stop him.

According to a law enforcement bulletin, Walck is believed to be a Montana Sovereign Citizen with ties to the Aryan Nations.

The bond for a man at large and suspected of firing shots at an Idaho State Police officer has increased to $1 million with the additional charge of kidnapping.

A caller reportedly told Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office the suspect, Mitchell L. Walck, kidnapped her 62-year-old sister-in-law from Rathdrum, Idaho, on Saturday morning after he hid in her home following a pursuit and forced her by gunpoint into her vehicle. They drove to Glendive, Mont., where he dropped her off unharmed.

Law enforcement believes he has a handgun allegedly used to fire at the ISP officer and two rifles stolen from the Rathdrum victim’s home, the release said.

Some of these sovereigns are not all talk and vexatious pleadings; we have this type. I spoke this weekend, actually I played poker with her, a Justice of the Peace from Lethbridge. Our sovereign types here have peddled their influence up north, Burnaby has commented on this in the past. She said there have been a few that she has had to have removed from the courtroom. Given the exceptional patience shown by Canadian judges, these must have been a handful. By the way, Lethbridge is also known as LA around here.

He was sentenced in May of 2002 to 10 years in prison for assault on a police officer in Powell County, Mont., according to the Montana Department of Corrections website. That incident took place in November of 2001, the website shows.[/quote]

Authorities in Powell County, Mont. had no trouble today remembering their 2001 standoff and confrontation with Walck.

“I’m really concerned,” Powell County Sheriff Scott Howard said this morning. “He’s really weird character to explain in words. He sees and hears a lot that are just not there.”

In the 2001 incident, when Howard’s deputies approached the abandoned rancher near Drummond, Mont., they found Walck and his girlfriend inside the home. The girlfriend bolted to deputies and warned them that Walck intended to shoot and kill them, which led to the standoff, Howard said.

Howard recalled the strange things Walck would do during the standoff including putting down his rifle, jumping outside through a window and dancing. He’d jump back inside the home before he could be detained.

I think this one is just more the nasty, dangerous individual who really isn't concerned with his behavior, and that the victim is just very very lucky that she got out of it alive, as from the sounds of it and past behavior he has a very low regard for much of anything, human life in particular.

The thought crossed my mind that, using his sovrun super-sekrit legal skillz, he either thinks he can get off the federal charges or that he will expose the illegitimate US government and start the sovereign revolution.
