The SEC shut down a Virgin island's registered Credit Union operated, mostly in his mind, by a Colorado man, Stanley McDuffie, who has a former credit union failure to his record apparently pretty much manufactured the current one out of whole cloth. He apparently took in about half a million in the form of certificates of deposit that he allegedly then spent. He had been operating in primarily over the internet.
He is currently trying to get the case removed to the Virgin Islands for trial.
