I think that the parody is now the reality.

I tried to add a comment, and got a message that the post had been removed by its owner. Perhaps we can indeed see it; but unless comments are reopened we can't comment upon it.gatsby wrote:I can still see it.Pottapaug1938 wrote:The post just got taken down, a minute or two ago.

Participation over/under
Enough mockery.
Let's see some serious over/under predictions for the number of people who actually show up for this.
As a point of reference, We The People held several events in Washington over the last few years.
One was intended to form a human chain around the IRS building ** to shut it down. They only managed to attract enough people to form an unbreakable human chain as far as the TV cameras could see. Perhaps one thousand attended.
Another rally was to serve petitions on the White House, Congress, and copies to all news organizations. It was an impressive parade down Pensylania Avenue -- until you noticed that it was more of a conveyor belt than a parade. As soon as one group reached the end of the parade line, they ran back to the beginning, grabbed new posters, and marched again. Participation estimates -- 2,500 (not counting police infiltrators, illumaniti, quatloosians, and local college kids who thought it was some kind of fraternity thing)
Other than WTP (may it RIP) there have been many anti-tax, anti-this, and anti-that demonstrations in Washington. It always seems somewhat unfair that the demonstration organizers count their police escorts as participants. That usually inflates the turn-out figure by around 200%.
SO, back to the point. Let's see some serious wagers on the table regarding the May 14 event.
Just to make it fair, each bet is limited to a FIVE person spread since it's highly unlikely that thousands of people will show up.
I'm opening with Q1,000 on five or less showing up for this momentous event. Any takers or other bets?
(Minor cheating revealed: My sources tell me that there is no parade / demonstration permit request for this event with DC Police, Hill Police, FPS, Secret Service thereby rendering any type of demonstation/action an immediate arrestable event).

Update: This event has been rescheduled for June 27. No idea why.

June 27 -- Great date. Congress will be out of town on their Independence Day recess.
It's always a great idea to organize a protest march / mass arrest on a date when no one will be there to interfere with your lunacy.
However, the citizens' arrest committee will probably find their plans slightly disrupted by the preparations / rehearsal for the Capital Fourth on the Mall. In addition to hundreds of contractors building stages, etc; overall security will be heightened.
These lunatics (unless they disband and act as individuals) won't be able to get within five blocks of the Hill.

It's also a good excuse for a rant along the order of "We, The People rose up and came to Washington to perform common-law citizens' arrests of the treasonous elected officials in Congress, but they were so afraid of Our Righteous Wrath that they left town once they knew that we were coming."AndyK wrote:June 27 -- Great date.
