Tonight's lunar eclipse won't be visible in the NY area, but will in other parts. NBC has a good overview of the eclipse and other features like the possibility of a "selenelion"; ie the eclipse could be visible with the sun rising tomorrow am.

Aparently the lunar eclipse will be visible at 6:30 AM EST - by which time the moon should be very low in the west to people in the EST zone.
