By popular demand, the thread has been moved to a more appropriate place. Which is another reason to like Quatloos - in short there's really not, a more congenial spot with accommodating moderators - except for one who is still in a funk over his title color.

I like that threads get moved when in the wrong place, or like threads get merged, while divergent topics in a thread get split. Good Board Management :)

But also, as a Tax guy and a Lawyer, I love to read about those kooky tax protestors. Some tax protestors ideology has merged with the SovCit thinking, and this now also entertains me too. I like to read about:

1) Anyone who believes Taxes do not apply because____________________
2) Anyone who believes A specific Law does not apply because___________________
3) Anything on DMVP, Kent H, Peter H & Wife
4) Anything on Bobby M, Dean, or any other crazy Canadian Burnaby49 posts about (Especially if they use the UCC)
5) And Sometimes the RV news from TNT Tony

That, and this site is full of people who actually know the law, and can rebut all the TP/SocCit Woo. Unfortunatly, most of the TP/SovCit's don't understand logic, but that can be interesting too...

Yeah, I'm with NYGman. The recent fun with Werebank & Tom Crawford is just a single chapter of an encyclopaedic resource covering so many scams and fruitcakes. On a rainy Sunday I can spend a day reading into a particular story, following the links to court papers etc, guided by wry, expert comments from senior members. It's a privileged view into a very strange world.

I deal with generally low intelligence people, so it is nice to see back and forth debate with smart people.

A bit similar for me, I am fascinated by the mindset of the SovCit/Freeman. Quatloos reveals stories about these people and the beliefs that they hold. I am an avid researcher and I enjoy delving into the claims that are made. I learn about a variety of subjects in the process and I get to analyse statements that, to me, are entirely without foundation. I can study, research, analyse, make calculations, form my own views and, finally, post my opinions for intelligent discussion without fear of being insulted or ridiculed. Of course, I am never wrong.

(been banned on GOODF, WorldFreeman Forums and a few others for asking simple questions.. cuz the powers that be there.. don't want anything other)

How I got here!! OOOH where I was renting .. there was another person, renter, who claimed all these wonderful freeman ideas, and told me how I could get the govn't to pay my taxes back to me etc etc.. How they were learned and understood law, that they had read the laws of the country etc. So I decided to research, and find things out.. and Quatloos came up in the google search engine! Hooray.

Other wonderful things - Facts, information that is backed, and openly researchable - and this is even encouraged.
And BONUS - if you have a differing opinion than someone else, no one will condemn you for it.

Sovs of all races, creeds and nationalities. (Sovs are like slinkies. They aren't really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.) Obscure references to the likes of Mel Brooks and Monty Python. Smart people who are also incorrigible wiseasses. Schadenfreude by the bucketful.

It helps to get confirmation that my own research is somewhat accurate. Although I also get confirmation if my understanding is wrong and get corrected, which is a key difference from the freeman cheer squad sites.

Answers with citations, quotes (as in relevant bits with a link, not entire articles dumped on the page), and commentary rather than answers with no evidence, or just links with no discussion.

That, and the occasional bit of comedy, such as this: https://youtu.be/Ebt0l8s3aMQ?t=185

Guess at some point I should put a real answer, though cookies are good.

I came to Quatloos and have stayed here for one reason: common sense. It doesn't matter what argument you use, and you could be the most edumicated individual out there, if it doesn't make any sense, it's wrong. We talked about in another thread about our first experiences with sov'runs/ TP and I had talked about my teacher who had talked about income tax being unconstitutional, 16th never ratified, etc. This is what he was teaching in class. It just kinda get stuffed in the back of my head and really didn't come out again until I started reading all the threads on here. They didn't make any sense then and they still don't now. Most every argument can be refuted with just common sense, which seems to be in short supply among those we talk about.

I'm not a lawyer, not a tax guy, never finished college, but I did graduate from the school of Hard Knocks and am currently working on my Doctorate there so it's good for me that I can find someplace where my particular brand of sense can be utilized and appreciated.

For many years while the tax protest movements were more rampant, Quatloos did quite a bit of fear mongering, without providing clear cut remedies. Have people been pointed in the right direction on this site who had legal, tax or financial issues? That would make an interesting thread. Occasionally there are tidbits of useful advice but you get what you pay for on free sites.

I'm going to make this shorter than my usual long winded rants, since I just had eye surgery and am not even supposed to be on a computer, but I couldn't resist the urge :naughty: I don't view Quatloos as a source of free legal advice, to me its purpose is to expose certain types of fraud through mockery and public debate. In my own particular case, the thread on Private Sector Act quickly made me realize I was in trouble and needed some proper legal advice. With respect to the exposure part, the thread has played no small part in convincing Derek Johnson and the two Kevins to change their tactics at least twice. I will be writing more on their third manifestation once my eyes are in better shape.

Could you provide specifics about the "fear mongering" on Quatloos? And what kind of clear cut remedies were not being provided? Again, please be specific.
Have people been pointed in the right direction on this site who had legal, tax or financial issues?

Do you have any evidence that anyone has been pointed in the wrong direction? Not that Quatloos has any legal obligation to provide answers to people with such problems or that Quatloos promises to provide accurate tax or legal information. In fact, I have seen many times where posters have gone to great lengths to advise people to seek legal or tax advice outside of this forum from an attorney or accountant who will represent them and provide direction to the best of their ability.
Occasionally there are tidbits of useful advice but you get what you pay for on free sites.
Then why are you asking for advice on this site? Because you don't want to pay to receive correct advice?
