Guru fight!
At the start of KoG's latest radio show, KoG launches an attack on Menard. Something about Menard stealing KoG's car or something? The first hour features various other shots at him.

There is one glaring mistake there. I don't know about Canada but here in the UK some names on gravestones are in upper case and some are in upper and lower case. Some have the names in beautiful copperplate writing.Hanslune wrote:Not sure if this has been posted before:

That moron can't even get a billboard right. Most important thing is the Web Addy. But I think we already know Kate and company have permanent dunce caps.

If their argument is that details entered on a BC become crown copyright why would it only apply to the section where the name is written? It would apply to the whole document. The BC linked to above has "Girl" written on it. Why don't these morons say it is illegal for a female to call themselves a girl?

Wait a fricking minute, in the second half of his rant against Menard, Kate actually says that you don't go to jail for using a legal name loosly paraphrased.Bill Lumbergh wrote:Guru fight!

Still no answer to my question, if it is illegal to use your legal name, why are the jails not full of people? Despite it clearly not being illegal, I have not seen one person convicted for this crime. Even if it where copyrighted, surely it's use would fall under fair use, but I don't need to ponder that, as I can't find any legal authority that proves it is illegal, no cases, no status, nothing. You would think I would be able to find something, if this were true.

Actually, in Canada, there are no rules for what is written on a gravestone, except for certain specified circumstances and it doesn't cause disrespect to the deceased. Generally, but not always, the name of the deceased is in all caps to make it stand out. Specified circumstances are usually the case of a poor sod who is buried under the rules of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission or the Canadian Legion.rumpelstilzchen wrote:There is one glaring mistake there. Well, this crap has hit the papers in the UK:
Personally, I think the more press coverage they get - the worse off it will be for them. I only wish Peter of England took out huge billboard ads like this !!!

Re: Lose The Name: Kate of Gaia & Cult Followers
Since this thread is drifting I will be brief. The "real" Sam McGee retired in the 1930's to live with his daughter who had married one of our local farmers. Upon his death in 1940 from natural causes he had a conventional funeral following local custom and was interred (no cremation) in his church's cemetary with a prosaic black granite headstone. Yes his name on the headstone is in all caps, but others there, particularly the older ones, may use a mixture of font styles - young children are often in lower case. About the only thing interesting about the whole church yard is the evidence of the prosperity of its denizens. Times were pretty tough here in the 1930's and many of the local cemetaries have an area simply paved over with concrete containing unmarked graves.grixit wrote:Heh. Out of respect for his particular religious denomination, who does not wish his burial site to become a tourist attraction selling trinkets, relics, and elixirs I will not give out the exact location of his grave in public.
