The initial clue about Ed's plan came from Reno's daddy, posted on his MySpace page on June 25, 2007.
I found [Ed] to be an arrogant, ambitious, self-serving man that is using everyone around him (including Elaine) for his own personal political gain. From what little I could gather, he is looking for 'supporters' willing to DIE for him but he has no intentions of dying himself.

The parallel doesn't sit well with me. Hitler killed millions, Ed just waived his liberty tool around for 10 months and mouthed off a lot.
Yeah, and I'm feeling a little silly today. My father fought against Hitler and served in the post-war occupation of Nuremberg, and the parallels I'm drawing are mostly frivolous, with the ranting against Jews, Illuminati, etc., being an exception.

But can you tell us more about Ed and Elaine? Why do you say Ed had these plans for Elaine?

That explains the twelve, yes twelve computers........WTF? Twelve computers?
I easily have that many computers in my home and basement. I'm too lazy to wipe the harddrives and get rid of the old outdated hardware so they just sit around and collect cobwebs.

Wow, that's quite a list.

I'm actually somewhat impressed that they had that well-stocked an arsenal.

You must mean Liberty Tool....

As a student of World Domination Theory: The Hitler-Brown personality link could actually be apt. (Not that Brown is anywhere near a thrilling public speaker or had enough brians to capitalize on a common hatred in America -- That of course will change with the Treaty of Ulan Bator in 2017, I digress.)

What they have in common is 1) an underlying belief that the world can be magically transformed by their actions 2)that some group is holding them back (in this case the SAME general theory, but instead of the Treaty of Versailles it is the IRS, "gubber"ment and reptiles) and 3) a unwavering belief in the correctness of their cause despite all rationality.

That's about as far as I would go.

They also hung out with fruity, drug-addled, sycophants and knuckle-draggers.......
That was certainly true of Hitler, with Hermann Goering (addicted to opiates, as I recall) and Rudolf Hess (from what I remember in my reading, this guy was generally considered by close associates to be quite weird and, of course the official Nazi position was that Hess was basically insane, after he took upon himself to fly to England without Hitler's permission, jumping out of his plane, parachuting into the English countryside, and letting his unmanned plane crash, in an attempt to find a high-ranking English official to negotiate peace - he spent the rest of his life in prison).

Ernst Roehm, the head of the Nazi Sturmabteilung or Brown Shirts (eventually murdered on Hitler's orders) qualified in the "fruity" category, if you're using that term, uh, euphemistically. And Reichsfuehrer-SS Heinrich Himmler had a lot of batty theories that even his subordinates in the SS had a hard time swallowing. Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels was not exactly running with all pistons in working order, either. I believe Rudolf Hoess, the commandant of Auschwitz, was a murderer prior to his rise in the SS (imagine that, hiring a murderer to run Auschwitz).

But come on now. Who in Ed Brown's circle would qualify as being weird in any way?

Looks like the long list of IEDs and weapons had the desired "pucker" effect on the judge.

Documents: Brown home stuffed with explosives
Court filing details protesters' arsenal

By Margot Sanger-Katz
Monitor staff

October 26. 2007 1:25AM

The improvised explosive devices found at the Plainfield home of Ed and Elaine Brown included pipe bombs, cans of gunpowder with fuses and bombs with nails taped to the outside, according to recently filed court documents.

Federal agents also found teargas grenades, two .50-caliber rifles and more than 60,000 rounds of ammunition.

The Browns, who vowed to die before surrendering but were arrested "without incident" by an undercover team, are serving 63-month sentences in federal prison. But during the eight months they evaded capture at their home, they amassed an arsenal of weapons and explosives, and they gathered communication devices and military equipment, the documents say.

The documents were filed with the federal district court in New Hampshire in the cases of four Brown supporters who are charged with aiding and abetting the couple and bringing them weapons.

They itemize the objects seized from the couple's house during a search by federal agents completed earlier this month. In the filings, prosecutors asked for the supporters' trials to be delayed, citing the volume of forensic evidence they need to process in the cases.

The Browns themselves, who were convicted of a series of tax-related crimes in January, have not been charged with any crimes related to the standoff. U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier, who led the investigation, has said that they will likely face additional charges for their behavior.

Forensic specialists will analyze the weapons and explosives materials for fingerprints and DNA evidence, which may link them to the arrested supporters, the Browns or others who have not been charged with crimes, the documents say.

Included in the lists are materials from more than 20 "suspected pipe bombs" and bags of explosives materials, including several found hanging from trees outside the house. The explosives are described as both "low" and "high" explosives, and most were made from black powder, tannerite and fireworks, all of which can be purchased legally.

A spokesman for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which compiled the lists, did not return a message left yesterday. But in a previous interview, spokesman Jim McNally said many of the explosive devices found would have been capable of killing people and of significantly damaging the Browns' concrete home.

Inside the house, investigators found camouflage outfits, chemical protection suits, body armor and helmets, night vision scopes, and several sets of bows and arrows. Documents investigators seized included chemistry books, videos on the Waco, Texas, standoff, and a manual on "Surviving Marshall Law." They also found an array of communication devices, including two-way radios, police scanners, a satellite modem, disposable cell phones and six computers.

The documents also suggest that the Brown property included a bunker. Monier has repeatedly refused to answer questions about a possible bunker, but a rifle scope, gas mask, military rappel rope, a night vision scope and a camouflage "sniper suit" were found in a bunker, the documents said.

Many of the items found correspond with wish lists the couple posted online.

Three of the four defendants told prosecutors that they would agree to a delay of their trials, originally scheduled for Nov. 6, the documents said. An order issued by the judge yesterday suggested that the trials may be put off until January.

Isn't "Surviving Marshall Law" a manual published by BARF?
Many of the items found correspond with wish lists the couple posted online.
But I didn't see the fighter jet in the government inventory. Did one of the investigators walk off with it?

I'm pretty sure that Famspear has dibs on the fighter jet if it has the Constitution Ranger decal on the door.

I think you mean ErsatzAnatchist. I recall that he wanted just five minutes alone with the Constipational Ranger door. :)

Thanks to the information that Demosthenes has posted about Shaun Kranish, the Wondrous Weather Wacko, and his apparent belief that government personnel or scientists supposedly now -- today -- even as we speak -- have the actual ability to create hurricanes, move them around, and generally control the weather, etc., etc., I nominate Shaun Kranish:

I'm not sure this guy deserves a Wikipedia article (and I didn't create this article), but if he's gonna have one, well.....

Let's not forget item 141 on the inventory, "constitution ranger badges". Unfortunately, the inventory did not list the quantity.

Door?

If someone finds a single-engine fighter with a door please let me know ASAP. It's not a jet. It's over 70 years old and EXTREMELY valuable.

Didn't Bill Miller mention Ed's plan to kill Elaine in one of the now-deleted audioblogs?
