A two week wait for the verdict in a criminal case? I can't say I've heard of that before.

If it's a jury trial then that would be odd, but if it's not before a jury and the judge wants some time to think about things it can happen. It would be more common that the judge has already decided on the verdict but wants to consider other issues, such as whether to impose a restraining order (which can happen regardless of what the verdict is), or if the judge feels that there might be disruptive behaviour if the verdict is announced immediately and wants some time for emotions to calm down to scuttle off somewhere safe.

That's always another possibility, but I'm going to stick my neck out and say that even Craig might have realised that wouldn't be an unconditional win. I do appreciate that past behaviour does cast some doubt here.

I know of no lawyer who would advise losing a case to win a case on an appeal. Winning is best early, and nothing is served dragging things out, unless you are being paid by the hour in beer for you common law legal advice.

I can't remember what the final charge was (someone remind me) but whatever it was it's no surprise that already they are selling a loss and a win and giving us the "you wait and see" rhetoric once more.

Craig, if you are reading this I feel for you. Your old man, probably a nice bloke once, has been led up the garden path by a variety of people, possibly even your mum, and now he just needs to let go and enjoy his final years.

Yep, been checking 15 times for a Nottingham Post story but nothing so far. Maybe because it isn't over yet, hence this talk of back in two weeks. Press will tend to report the whole thing in one go at the conclusion of a minor trial like this.
