Tremco is a real roofing company but I sincerely doubt it was sent by them. The Subject line has an obvious typo. Tremco has one location in Canada and one in Ohio but the phone number in the email is Arizona. The sender's name, "HR@Tremcoroofing&maintanancecompany," is face-palmingly awful, and the sender's email is richiestokes65@gmail.com. Also, the reply-to address is benjaminscott899@gmail.com. It's funny how this Bob Spreat character is using two different gmail address, neither of which matches his name. From: "HR@Tremcoroofing&maintanancecompany" <richiestokes65@gmail.com>

Also, the need for "good maths and English skill" is a dead give-away to a non-American.
"Maths" is a British term; never used stateside.

They also can't decide on the job title. Is it for an "Office Assistant Specialist" or an "Operations Specialist?" Big difference between the two.AndyK wrote:Also, the need for "good maths and English skill" is a dead give-away to a non-American.

AndyK pointed out the obvious one, there are several points actually, English speaking, but not English, the grammar is off at places. Makes no sense when taken as a whole as the various parts contradict each other.
I would bet the email adds does not resolve to anyplace this company has an office.
Over the last few years I've received a fair number of these, none as well written in part as this one, but still pretty much the same.
Definitely different.

I've gotten quite a few similar to this after signing up for an online job search. Nothing like trying to fake hire someone.

What's the purpose? Is it a phishing scam to get your SSN and bank account info?

This is a little more subtle than most of them, but the next round will be to get personal/bank info most likely for ID theft.

It is possibly an identify-theft phishing scam, but it may also turn out that there is a $100 fee for processing the application, should webhick choose to reply.LaVidaRoja wrote:What's the purpose? Is it a phishing scam to get your SSN and bank account info?
BTW, Tremco (the real one) appears to have their own email system. I did an NSLOOKUP and got a hit on an MX (Mail eXchange) record. So, there is no reason for Mr. Spraet to use a gmail account.
I'd say its a scam, either to get money or personal information.
That's particularly disgusting. I've been involuntarily unemployed in the past, and it is not a good feeling. To have someone attempt to capitalize on that is unconsciounable.

Sometimes these work-from-home scams are real paid work, but the work is acting as a mule for goods obtained by fraud. Typically the scammers work with people who order things using stolen credit cards, have them delivered to your house, and then your job is to re-ship them to someone else (maybe the scammers, maybe another unwitting participant).

I specially like the ones where they ask you to act as their payments receiving/processing officer and they send you checks to deposit in to your own account and then forward money on to them via WU or the like, and you get to keep a percentage as payment, and the money is invariably your money and then you get stuck for the inevitable bad checks you were asked to cash and forward and are also out the money you forwarded. That's always a favorite. Really hate that one.

Another side of the payments intermediary scam is that the money might actually exist, but it’s source or intended end purpose isn’t legal. Hence the need for gullible intermediaries to launder the money by passing it through multiple accounts and/or countries.
The scam also makes it likely that if the authorities take an interest it’ll be the intermediaries who are prosecuted, not the people controlling the scheme.

webhick - Tremco is a legitimate (and large) company and it might be appropriate to notify their management that someone may be using their company name inappropriately. They have a full list of job openings (including some that are work-from-home) on their LinkedIn page:

Good luck on the job hunt.

Thanks. Six years in retail was enough for me for a lifetime. Unfortunately, fifteen years doing bookkeeping seems to not qualify me to be a bookkeeper.Good luck on the job hunt.
