Office of the Public Guardian
Introducing Mr Mike Clarke, a truly troubled soul. It's a rather tragic story involving Mike's mother. It seems the NHS provided some dodgy care and he sued for £1.7m, but they settled on £775k instead. The mother was put under protection of the court for reasons I dont quite know, with a solicitor appointed to ward her. They then applied to have her taken out protection some years later.
During the time under protection, the solicitor bills were racking up to £26k, and Mike thinks they also stole her money.£100k in fact.A scuffle breaks out regarding what to do with the house. He then goes all FMOTL bat shit crazy and has been ever since.
His summary of events can be found in his handy PDF: http://opg.me/5pageoverview.pdf
Now, onto the compulsory website. I warn you in advance, its not for the weak of heart. You cant sue me, nor can you unsee the website:

Theres a handy set of links to all the bonkers letters he sent over the years.Lots of letters.

Or how about charging the PM with terrorism? http://opg.me/notice09082016served.pdf
Damages? Well what about £120m demanded from the court? http://opg.me/damagesdemandordered.pdf
Dont like the judegment? Well scrawl FRAUD all over it http://opg.me/voidorder11112016.pdf
Everyone ignoring your lien, no problem, just ask the police to step in! http://opg.me/LIENcontract2018.pdf
Its a treasure trove of mad up lawyering. He's active and linked with the BGC and PLD nut jobs.

Re: Office of the Public Guardian
I am pretty sure I have come across this case before. At least a year ago so much is hazy.
The impression that I took away from it then was that the court of protection was concerned that the son would be able to influence the mother to effectively piss away this handy windfall which he was perceived as seeing as a meal ticket for himself for years to come. Indeed the high solicitors costs he mentioned were chiefly due to the solicitors efforts to protect the mother from the attempts her son made to get his hands on the settlement money.
The rest of the story followed much the same lines. The last straw was when the son had managed to waste or spend pretty well all the settlement and wanted to sell the mother's home in Blackpool for more funds.
I am not sure where I read all this, but there was a lot more detail that the son does not mention, that tends to support the ruthless parasite theory, rather than the caring son hypothesis.

Re: Office of the Public Guardian
you're right, he does sound familiar.
Is he a fugitive or loving son?
https://www.euroweeklynews.com/news/on- ... loving-son
Or a rather more scathing assesment from the Sun:

Fugitive drags mentally ill mum, 75, around the world claiming she’s ‘on the p***’ as he blows her six-figure NHS pay-out
The fugitive was sentenced to three months in prison, in absentia, for taking
advantage of his elderly mum and disobeying Court of Protection laws – but
he now refuses to return home with Ann despite repeated promises.

After reading the judgement through the red lines, I can see this is the same case. I recall the bit where he took his mother to Thailand, possibly as a sort of human debit card.

More cases and analysis here:
https://www.39essex.com/cop_cases/re-clarke/
Genuinely a sorry state of affairs, in that initial reading seems to indicate that not only has this guy managed to spend his mother's entire compensation award, he has also managed to have his brother and sister excluded from the will apart from a gift of £500 each, which the house going to him outright.
He really doesn't come across as a particularly nice person when reading the court decisions and his own website.

Re: Office of the Public Guardian
Apart from the fact that like many idiots, he cannot spell principal, I do not see that he has any right to see anything reported about his mother since he has no standing.
Reading his mother's will, I see he has generouly allows his siblings £500 each from her estate (I assume he wrote the will) and has added a lot of non-standard boilerplate about mental capacity in case there is in fact any money left and the siblings take issue with the will.
