I was reading this article, and a few others on the zombie laws. no, not laws on the undead rising and eating brains or some such; but the laws on the books in canada that no logger apply, are outdated or are of no force and effect.
read one such article here: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2017/0 ... -task.html
what a mess! it should not just be criminal code but all laws that can take property, take money, suspend ones rights or cause the imprisonment of someone. on all levels. no this brings me to a thought....
Lets purpose that they get rid of all zombie laws at all levels and rewrite the rest for clarity. what excuses do you think the opca crowd would use to try and weasel out of any civic responsibility and any bill they get? theres conspiracy theory, the oldest in time first in line gambit. whats others thoughts on this and on the removal of zombie laws in general?
peace,
ninj

Re: zombie laws
I think ignorance, stupidity, and fantasy still pretty well cover it.
An awful lot of that would have been taken care of if there was an effective legislative review system that regularly went through and purged legislative and judicially excised portions. The thing is that it has to be ongoing and not done just when they think about doing it.

The fact that you sincerely and wholeheartedly believe that the “Law of Gravity” is unconstitutional and a violation of your sovereign rights, does not absolve you of adherence to it.

Re: zombie laws
These laws are potentially useful to the powers that be. They can be used against any political target. Removing these weapons can effect the profit of those in charge and that's just not acceptable. Making the rules easier for the general public is NOT acceptable as less lawyers would be needed and remedies for litigants would be cut and dry.
Can't have that now, can we?

Somewhat similar, there is still a $400 fine for using your cell phone while pumping gas down here due to a law that was passed after an email hoax in the early 2000's claimed cell phones could cause gas pumps to explode.

It's not enforced but it's still on the books and there's warnings on gas pumps about the fine. Probably not worth the effort of eliminating it.

"down here"? My guess would be Florida. So many interesting memes have the theme "Florida man". Check that out on Google images!Jeffrey wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 8:43 pm Somewhat similar, there is still a $400 fine for using your cell phone while pumping gas down here due to a law that was passed after an email hoax in the early 2000's claimed cell phones could cause gas pumps to explode.

OMG -- what an enlightened, on topic, informative response.
Taxes are the price we pay for a free society and to cover the responsibilities of the evaders

I 'm curious as to just what Zombie laws you are referring to and who has been hurt by them?
