Proposed Gibberish Forum

Post by wserra »

In response to the posts of our esteemed new member "parzival" describing his purblind search for a legal Holy Grail, a couple of folks suggested the creation of a new forum for such Mr. Magoo type quests. We have had posters over the years who - like parzifal - are neither TPs nor sovs, but who make about the same amount of sense. Not that many, but some. The questions: do we want to create such a forum? If so, what do we call it?

I think it's a good idea. I don't think we should make the forum name too insulting, though. "The Gibberish Box" seems a little harsh, and "March of the Morons" is out of the question.

Reactions?

Check Parzifal's new, massive entry. He must be using some kind of gibberish generator.

How about the Gabby Hayes or Gabby Johnson Forum? Or if you need it reduced to a pseudo-esoteric title, then in honor of the late actor who portrayed Gabby Johnson, call it the Jack Starrett Memorial Forum.

As much as I like Word Salad Bar, I feel like it might be too narrow. There are lots of wacky legal theories out that are presented more compactly and coherently (while still being very wrong or even Not Even Wrong); where would we put those?

If we're looking for a more highbrow forum name for "unclassifiable weird legal things", I would suggest Sui Generis. And if you want it to be insulting, you can make it Screwy Generis. :)

This from Andy("Off with his head!")K? Not snarky enough.

I like "Not Even Wrong" a good deal, but think a lot of people won't get it. So failing that, I like "Word Salad Bar" or "Word Salad Fruteria". Let's wait for a few more suggestions.

I take it everyone who responded thinks the new forum is a good idea? web?

I vote for Jack Starrett Memorial Forum. Subtle without being directly insulting. And some of these posters are definitely on the frontiers of genuine gibberish.
