Welcome to SSL
You can now access Q using https and not http.
If the forum is giving you an invalid form error when you try to log in, access the site using https:// instead of http://. The server should automatically be redirecting you to the secure site but just in case it doesn't.

Re: Welcome to SSL
It doesn't... or at least my attempt didn't. I suspect that might be because my saved link relied on the browser interpreting no protocol given in the url as being http://The server should automatically be redirecting you to the secure site but just in case it doesn't.
Explicitly updated it to https:// and it's fine.

Re: Welcome to SSL
I, on the other hand, am having a lot of problems getting in. Yesterday I read Web's email using Firefox on my new computer. I tried to go back to "unread posts" but instead got kicked out of Quatloos. When I tried to get back in by signing in Quatloos wouldn't let me saying that this was an unsecure connection. I tried a few times since and failed. So I tried signing in with Chrome, got in and came back to this discussion to see if my problem was explained. On my first attempt to make this post I was kicked out again and had to sign in yet again. Let's see if this second posting attempt works.

Re: Welcome to SSL
As soon as I made that previous post and tried to return to "unread posts" I was kicked out again.

Burnaby,
Make sure you are using the SSL site (https://quatloos.com/Q-Forum/)
You can also delete your board cookies. It might be picking up on the cookie made on the http connection.
Deleting the browser history for Quatloos might also help.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I'm busy babysitting a three year old all day then off pubbing in the evening.webhick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 8:11 pm Burnaby,

Re: Welcome to SSL
I changed to https to get in and it apparently now remembers me when I go to "unread posts". However when I tried to make this reply saying that I finally seemed to be getting in ok I was kicked out yet again. No doubt there's a simple solution I'm just technically too inept to follow but I'm constantly being tossed out of Quatloos and having to sign in again.

Re: Welcome to SSL
For some reason, I still get in with a URL starting http.

Well, knock on polystyrene I seem to be working for now, for the moment. Maybe the cookie thing finally properly updated.

Re: Welcome to SSL
On my browser (Firefox 70.0.1), the redirect only works from http://www.quatloos.com itself - my bookmark was set to go to the UK page directly (http://www.quatloos.com/Q-Forum/viewforum.php?f=52), which isn't redirecting to the https:// URL. I'm not sure if this counts as a problem, but if anyone else is having problems with being logged out, this may fix it.

Re: Welcome to SSL
Update your bookmarks to include https. Browsers won't update bookmarks in response to a permanent redirect. And explicitly telling a browser that you want to visit http:// (and not the https) will override the redirect.Tevildo wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 8:02 am On my browser (Firefox 70.0.1), the redirect only works from http://www.quatloos.com itself - my bookmark was set to go to the UK page directly (viewforum.php?f=52), which isn't redirecting to the https:// URL.
