I remember the roof top 6 plus dickhead made a big thing out of it on youtube but never mentioned it in court, funny that.YiamCross wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 9:53 amI don't recall seeing any when I went to view the property but it was not a nice house as I recall. Re: The Crawfords Keep Looking For A Unicorn
Hey Everyone, have to apologise for not being around and unfortunately life has very much got in the way the last few weeks. I shall try to answer everyone questions as they (have) come. I've plenty of time at the minute as I'm isolating in Thailand dealing with a family emergency. Before anyone jumps on it, I'm not advertising the house empty. Due to travel restrictions I've had to travel alone. As I'm sure Craig is well aware since we had a visit from his girlfriend to pick up a parcel for him this week. If any of you are reading this please change your address now for things you want it's just sad now.
LurkerRob, So as for poor Betty whatever happened to her she's far better off. She moved out of this shit filled hut... which set alight very easily.
!?
TBL, no not at any point have we ever had any issue with Insurance. However that being said, you ask after him breaking in. The house was un-insured at this point. It was completely un-insurable due to it's state of both original disrepair and the point in the repair... so this was not an issue.TBL, I'm curious if there were any insurance issues after the sale? Did any insurers (assuming private homeowners insurance as we have here across the pond) balk thinking that there may be intentional damage due to the way that the home was acquired? What about after the first break-in? Now, none of this may be relevant or something you want public. If so, I fully understand.
LurkerRob I think we've all been fooled!
I suspect at the first sign of the eviction Betty was hidden in a purpose built "Safe Room" and then retrieved at a later date when the coast was clear.

doublelong, personally I would say exaggeration is being too kind. It was an outright lie! There were no holes in the ceilings anywhere.doublelong, Were there holes in the ceiling from the police using steel rods to poke holes to force the roof top six down? Re: The Crawfords Keep Looking For A Unicorn
Our Story... (All names etc were printed in the Evening Post, so I may as well use them here?)
Barry, Adam's dad was as was said in the court case a property developer (and quite a successful one at that). He was and is (allegedly in retirement) looking at properties. Adam and myself moved to Nottingham around twenty years ago when he went to university there and had been renting in and around the city since. This never sat well with Barry as he believes it's lost money. Like everyone we also aspired to have our own home and had look at various houses and building plots for sometime. They were visiting one weekend and as usual Barry was looking at properties on his iPad. The auction showed up what was then referred to as Crawford Castle. To us wether anyone chooses to believe or not... we were completely unaware of. No matter what Tom, Ceylon and all think their world is not the one everyone else lives in. Not everyone I can assure you knew who they were or still doesn't. We discussed the property and just assumed as with many it was possibly and elderly person that had died or a repro. We got in the car went round and had a look. We were taken instantly, the area is nice, quiet and in a great location. We were hooked! The state of the place had no bearing on us.. as a family we have turned around worse.
Although it was at auction we have a lot of experience purchasing properties this way and as such were pretty confident if we approached we would be able to purchase beforehand. With the rise of programmes such as Homes Under the Hammer etc.. you can end up with some over inflated prices (thanks BBC). Barry had some money left over from a last project that would be enough to purchase the house, so for us it was just like the timing was right. We arranged a viewing for the Wednesday (technically we went to measure only so we could start planning). Offer put in... accepted a day later...
At this point there was then the disclosure of the 'history'. I then set about doing research about the history watching Youtube... Facebook... here etc spoke to our solicitors that we have used for years that specialise in property law. We came to the conclusion that the house had been repossessed legally and unfortunately there had just been mistakes made by the previous owners. We decided to proceed. After all we need a home too and this was an opportunity for us to have a dream house. During the process someone else decided they wanted it and started a little bidding war. They did not have the finds to 'keep up' (sorry can't think of a better phrase). We actually later found out that it was someone in the street. I think that also adds to an answer to a previous question about how they felt.
There was some speculation on here and other places that we didn't know what we were taking on... I assure you we knew what we were getting into, but were confident in being on the right side of the law.
Whilst we were clearing the house we had a few visits from Tom there was also the case of the rooftop idiots going on so they were still visiting making videos. We knew they were watching us as the videos were conveniently made after we had just left. There were videos made of their 'chattels' and whatever else it was they called the shit that was left. There is one thing that I wish I had kept though. Unfortunately deciding to be the better person I threw away his certificate from his Masons Lodge. I'm sure his devout followers would have loved that. We did however walk into this one day.
We continued on regardless. Then of course he decided to break-in
I shall leave it here as I'll collect up a few pictures from the deed for illustration and allow any questions to be asked on the process until now. I know someone asked but I have no problem in sharing pretty much everything, it was in the media and discussed everywhere... this is just our side of the story.
Sorry for the length but it's difficult to condense too much.

It is, of course, perfectly permissible to refuse acceptance of letters and parcels not addressed to a resident at the property.
I have a set of sticky labels for just this purpose for debt collecting letters that keep arriving for someone who has never lived in my flat, but seems to keep giving it out on loan and credit card applications and running up huge credit bills and multiple County Court judgements.

Very interesting story and thank you for adding to the record here.

I’d like to add my thanks too. The Crawfraud gang, after trumpeting nonsense about their next big sure fire court case which would have seen you kicked out and the house returned to them seem to have given up and crawled away.
A nice write up which hopefully concludes this long-running saga.

Re: The Crawfords Keep Looking For A Unicorn
I'm sure that the regulars here all appreciate you coming and giving a rational account of what transpired.
Unlike Tom Crawford, you seem to be a sane, intelligent person who has at least a basic understanding of the law.
One thing I don't understand about that notice that Tom posted on your property. How can one commit a common law offense for violating a statute?
Here in the US, while common law has all but disappeared, we inherited the concept from English common law, so I imagine it is basically the same on both sides of the pond. It is my understanding that common law consists of court cases that have set precedent over the years, while statutory law is just the opposite; legislated acts passed by Congress, or in your case, Parliament, to address a specific issue in a specific manner.
Actually, I know the answer to my question. One can't commit a common law offense in violation of a statute. Tom was just displaying his complete ignorance of the law and procedures.

Interobang, excellent write-up. I am completely fascinated by this story. I have a terrible memory but did Tommy Boy get his collar felt for the break-in? I think I used the British slang for arrested correctly, let me know if I'm wrong.
Thinking of the movie, I think Tommy Boy is a great name for him.

Tom never re-entered the property, it was supporters who did. Tom was arrested at one point for a low level public order offence IIRC it was dropped later.TBL wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 4:47 pm Interobang, excellent write-up. ArthurWankspittle, you unfortunately don’t recall correctly Tom did break in. It was in order to prove that he could damage our house and not be found guilty, because it was still his property.ArthurWankspittle wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:45 amTom never re-entered the property, it was supporters who did. The Central News report on the break in. The titles were added as Ceylon had a habit of ripping these videos & adding his own spin via titles. That channel also has the rooftop 6 trial reports.
