Re: How Top Accounting Firms Write Tax Policy
Good article. But the real news is that has been going on a lot longer than the Times reports. It was going on in the 80's and before. How do I know? I personally was involved. I left a big 4 accounting firm as a manager for a turn as a SES manager at the IRS. While at the IRS I was involved with a number of regulations projects. I returned to the firm after about 2 years as a partner. I truly do not believe I did anything untoward. I was easily able to put on the government hat because I had started my career in taxes at the IRS years before. I was a person who actually tried to do the right thing under the law no matter where I worked. But everything seems to be more blatant these days. Good to be retired now.
My choice early in life was to either be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politican. And to tell the truth there's hardly any difference.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
For me this is just another shocking reality of how the privileged have shielded themselves from taxation.
There's another article in the NY Times today on the inheritance loophole. I don't want to start another thread, but thought it was of note with regard to tax policy.
