Another goofy preparer trick - Tony Govereh convicted

Post by Judge Roy Bean »

Creativity abounds:
http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/stor ... ily41.html
"During January and February 2007, Govereh filed 107 personal income tax returns. Among other false credits and expenses, each return falsely claimed a Telephone Excise Tax Refund (TETR) credit of several thousand dollars ... The 107 personal income tax returns Govereh filed included more than $460,000 in false TETR credits, fraudulently inflating the refunds claimed on these returns to more than $750,000. Govereh extracted between $500 and $800 per return in preparer fees and also forced his taxpayer clientele to split the fraudulent refunds paid by the IRS with him."
Interesting; he was indicted within a few weeks of filing those returns and convicted in less than a year. Maybe they were alerted by his name: "Onessimus M. Govereh," or the name of his company: "Kingdom Tax Service."

Govereh has an extensive criminal record including driving with a suspended driver's licence, possession of dangerous drugs, forgery, counterfeiting, larceny, failure to appear for felony offence and driving under the influence.

Now authorities say they have discovered that he is also an illegal immigrant.

And he was double-parked.
