Consult with a lawyer ASAP, especially if charges resulted. The disposition of those charges can make a huge difference in the success of a civil suit. Many places have a relatively informal procedure that leaves a first offender facing minor charges without a criminal record, called things like "probation before judgment" or (here in NY) "adjournment in contemplation of dismissal", that cannot be accepted without prejudicing a subsequent civil suit.

As a parent, I'm sorry this happened. I think I might be more pissed off than my kid.

I wanted to update you on our situation regarding the incident with security guards. After speaking with Brandi and consulting with others, we've learned some important information about security protocols. Specifically, security personnel are not supposed to physically interact with individuals unless there's a genuine threat to safety.

In our case, the situation seems particularly problematic. A teenager weighing under 100 pounds could hardly be considered a security risk, yet there were six guards involved. The excessive use of force, combined with potential false accusations and the act of detaining our teen, has caused significant emotional distress.

When we returned the next day, I was deeply concerned by the dramatic change in our teen's demeanor. The anxiety level was unprecedented - higher than I've ever witnessed before. It's clear this incident has left a profound psychological impact.
I'm usually available downtown around Pender and Granville and could potentially meet for lunch around noon if that works for you. If anyone knows a compassionate lawyer who is genuinely interested in helping us pursue this case - not just collecting a fee - we would be incredibly grateful.

I'm afraid I can't offer much in the way of legal advice, and I also live in Alberta. I thought that Brandi Morin could give you some help, since her politics aside, she has some knowledge of the sort of interactions your daughter went through and a large social media following.

Thanks Eric, i am in contact with her. I been informed by the Police, who was on scene, that the man in the turban who accused her and assaulted her, wishes to press charges for the spitting, which nobody is sure even hit him. LOL, i mean good luck with that, but they were very much more interested in his assault and the civil suit that will be brought.
