That comment is just surreal.

Are they going to deny him access to Cartoon Central if he fails to pass? Limit his access to the crayons he needs to file Motions?

I think Ed was one of the guys in my ninth grade civics class that sat in the back of the room to avoid the teacher's attention, and spent all his time making spitballs.

God forbid he actually gets an education while he's incarcerated. Then he'd have half a brain - and thus be a true menace to society.

Wait... Ed never even finished high school? Was this mentioned somewhere that I missed?

I know he was in the service - did he skip out of school to enlist?

Navy'll take anyone......
Not entirely true. For example, during 1934 170,000 men volunteered for the navy and onyl 9,000 were accepted.

If Ed is a "child," perhaps he should be made to stand in the corner or wear a dunce hat. Apparently, he's been given a "time-out," though a little too late to effect his previous behavior.

My understanding of Ed's background is that he spent time in the foster care system until he joined the Navy at age 17. Shortly thereafter, he robbed a man using a metal pipe, was court marshaled, and spent six months in a juvenile detention center.

Ed is claiming that he passed a GED exam as a teenager but that the prison system is not accepting that exam.

I looked up the prison rules:

http://www.bop.gov/policy/progstat/5350_028.pdf
§544.70 Purpose and Scope.
Except as provided for in §544.71, an inmate confined in a federal institution who does not have a verified General Educational Development (GED) credential or high school diploma is required to attend an adult literacy program for a minimum of 240 instructional hours or until a GED is achieved, whichever occurs first.

You have a valid point. After all, they took me.

Your Van Meter has ringtones?!? Mine doesn't have ringtones!

All mine does is recite tax protestor gibberish backwards.
My Van Meter has ringtones, too. Mine plays "Over Now" by Alice In Chains whenever Ed Brown is detected.

Yeah, it's over now, but I can breathe somehow
When it's all worn out, I'd rather go without

You know it's been on my mind
Could you stand right there
Look me straight in the eye and say
That it's over now

We pay our debt sometime

Well it's over now, yet I can see somehow
When its all gone wrong, it's hard to be so strong

You know it's been on my mind
Could you stand right there
Look me straight in the eye and say
That it's over now

We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime

Guess it's over now, I seem alive somehow
When it's out of sight, just wait and do your time

You know it's been on my mind
Could I stand right here
Look myself in the eye and say
That it's over now

We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
