Tax Division AAG Nathan Hochman made the following comments to the DC Bar Tax Section (as reported in Tax Notes Today) on March 13, 2008:
When talk turned to tax protesters, Hochman said such efforts should be renamed "tax defiance." "When belief turns into action, conduct, and claims that encourage others to file false returns," he said, "we're going to go after them because the protest has become defiance." The Justice Department is going to start a national enforcement effort in the coming weeks to target such defiance, he said.

Re: National Enforcement Effort Targeting "Tax Defiance"
Any suggestions as to who will be lucky to be first on the list as a tax defier?
