Drank all the Kool-Aid in one big gulp
This person on Yahoo!Answers has latched on to a bunch of anti-tax, and anti-federal reserve theories. I wish he would listen, but I believe he is beyond help.

Re: Drank all the Kool-Aid in one big gulp
I answer a lot of the tax related questions on Yahoo!Answers.
It is quite addicting.
I had read the above question but I didn't answer as there were already quite a few answers trying to set the person straight.
Every couple of days, a Tax Protester in training stops by with the usual "Some me the law...." non-sense. Generally, they seem like younger people that have, for whatever reason, stumbled accross a video on YouTube or some TP website.
I felt sorry for one guy a while back. Apparently, a few years ago he had received a 1099misc for some work he had done and, for whatever reason, he decided not to file. He hadn't drank the kool-aid back then, he just didn't file. A few years go by and the IRS wants the taxes plus, of course, penalties and interest. It was only a couple of thousand dollars but it was far more than he could pay presently. Instead of dealing with the balance due, he started researching taxes on the web and came across various tax protester theories. I can't however remember which particular theory he had settled on but it was one of the usual suspects.
In my responses to him, I was litterally begging him not to go down the TP route. I could tell that he was young and wasn't a hard core TP so I tried to take it easy on him. Alas, I have no idea on which route he chose but I hope he hasn't made his life any more miserable.

Some of the questions asked by non-TPs indicate a level of confusion at least as great as that of the TPs. For example, "Can I find my W-2 online?" Or the 19 year old who made $5,000 last year, lived with her grandparents, but thinks she is financially independent.
"Here is a fundamental question to ask yourself- what is the goal of the income tax scam? I think it is a means to extract wealth from the masses and give it to a parasite class." Skankbeat

Seriously, Mr. M, yes I do keep an eye toward Yahoo Answers on the lookout for Kool-Aid drinkers. Usually I get beat to the punch (no pun intended).

Never realized that was a source of entertainment. Need to recruit some of the fellow realism types to youtube. What I actually meant (facetiously) was that you posted the question.Doktor Avalanche wrote: That's how I met my wife.

It really is sort of scary, how little people understand about the tax code. My dad is convinced that you can deduct home improvements. My friends think you can automatically claim $250 goods and $200 cash charity deductions. For that reason only, I can understand how some TPs end up where they are. They figure the code is so convoluted is obviously trying to hide something. Some of the questions asked by non-TPs indicate a level of confusion at least as great as that of the TPs. Things I've heard (some from bankruptcy cases):
Creativity mixed with stupidity abounds."What are they going to do, come to the house and count it?" (Cash.)
"That's impossible. One of the guys in my office has done it for years."
"I don't own anything. It's all in my kids' names."
"What is it you write on the envelope and send it back? It makes it so you haven't gotten it. Really."
"It's not income. I'm borrowing it."
"Here. Watch this and you'll see why." (Hands copy of FTF.) "There's so many of us now there's no way they can do anything about it."
"They (the IRS) can't take your house."
"Gambling winnings? None that I'm gonna' say anything about."
"Take the money out of the bank and buy gift cards."
"They can't make me sell those." (Guns.)
"It's all in my folks' storage space."
