SC Stonewalls

Post by LPC »

In a rare triple-play, the Supreme Court yesterday was able to avoid facing The Truth(r) in not just one, not just two, but three cases involving some of our favorite tax deniers.

Charles Thomas Clayton's conviction was denied review. No. 07-904, denying cert. in 506 F.3d 405 (5th Cir. 2007). (There's another thread on the petition, and I'll cite the denial there also.)

John B. Kotmair Jr.'s injunction stands. Save-A-Patriot Fellowship v. United States, 234 Fed. Appx. 65 (4th Cir. 2007), cert. den. No. 07-1145. (Also a separate thread.)

And the court declined to consider lawyer (so far) Jerold Barringer's petition for a writ of mandamus challenging sanctions imposed against him in the Patridge case. No. 07-1140. (Also a separate thread.)

There were threads about both the Patridge decision and the sanctions imposed against Barringer, but they are old enough to have been either locked or archived, so I'll just provide links for the benefit of anyone who might wish to revisit these particular examples of tax denier idiocy.

Barringer's sanctions were discussed at viewtopic.php?t=1977

Patridge's loss was discussed at viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1675&p=24881
