"Son of Man" commandeers Ed and Elaine's house

I didn't see this anywhere, sorry if it's already been posted.

It appears somebody has tried to turn the Brown home into the "House of Israel", complete with someone who seems to think he is Jesus. While the Concord Monitor isn't sure if it's their "spiritual advisor" Sonny, I bet it is since he is the one who got Ed and Elaine to sign their first names only, followed by "a Living Soul, in the Body of the Lord, of the House of Israel".

Oh, wait a minute, on second thought I guess I should review the recent history for residents of that house. Recall this article from the ''New Hampshire Union Leader'' from August 2007 during the standoff:

Actually, if they are going to get persnickety about it, the Edwardian version is the original authentic version of the Anglican Bible, and it is far prettier than the KJV, and every bit as incomprehensible since it is in proto-Eilzabethan English instead of bastardized Jacobian. It is always amusing when heretics and schismatics start arguing about purity of doctrine.

Anyway, the "KJV Only" folks aren't making claims about what was the original anglican bible. What they are claiming is that the KJV is perfect, that it is the very best translation there ever was or ever could be. Some even claim that it is more accurate than the manuscripts it was translated from because God intervened and made sure that the translators used the correct words even when the originals were defective. Those are the ones who instead of using the term "Authorized Version", refer to it as the "Author's Version". They don't seem to know that God apparently had to issue updates.

The "Bishops' Bible" was produced in Elizabeth’s time literally by the bishops, to replace the “Great Bible” of Henry, and the one I was referring to was produced during Edward’s short reign. The KJV is probably a better translation as it was translated from closer better sources, but I don’t like the prose nearly as much.

Religion is one of my hobbies. I was a big fan of the original Bible Answer Man. Call him up and he'll tell you why you're wrong. His successors just aren't in the same league. I loved Gene Scott and Herbert W Armstrong too.

I’ve only come across the Edward version once, it was an old facsimile that a friend had. Beautiful copy, unfortunately I don’t remember the text well enough to say what the differences were, although it would have had to have been closer to Henry’s version than KJV, still far prettier prose though. The problem I have with the whole thing is that the KJV was heavily edited, and the earlier versions were translations of translations, so that is where it starts.

Truth be told, God and I parted company about 32 years ago and when the scandals started erupting with the Bakkers, Swaggarts and Roberts' it only reenforced my belief that religion was a lie and that evangelists and preachers were some of the biggest bullsh*t artists on the planet.

I still feel that way, but there is one man for whom I do make somewhat of an exception:



I really liked the guy. He was entertaining, he was fascinating and most importantly he didn't come off as this "holier-than-thou" a**hole. He made no pretenses about himself, he didn't wrap himself in the cloak of piety and he didn't pretend he was better than anyone else.
