Porno star pleads guilty
Adult film star pleads guilty to tax evasion
The Register-Guard
Friday, August 22, 2008
Janine M. James, who starred as Janine Lindemulder in adult films such as “Blondage” and “Where the Boys Aren’t,” pleaded guilty Friday to tax evasion in U.S. District Court in Eugene.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas Coffin accepted James’ guilty plea to one count of willfully failing to pay her outstanding federal income taxes. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Cardani, who prosecuted the case, said James made a down payment on a Eugene home and purchased a new Jeep and RV despite owing more than $200,000 to the Internal Revenue Service.
Sentencing was set for Oct. 24. She faces up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. She will also be required to pay all her back taxes.
Lane County real estate records show that James purchased a 2,200-square-foot house at 3383 Riverbend Place for $647,700 in 2005. James, 39, did not have a listed telephone number and could not be reached for comment.

$200,000 and a $650,000 home? I never knew porn stars got paid that much.

It's good this was posted on a Saturday, otherwise I can imagine the double entendre.

Re: Porno star pleads guilty
It was a failure to pay case. Taxes were owed from 1996 to 2002. The bad behaviour (toys purchased, etc.) happened in 2004 and 2005.
Oddly enough, one of the allegations in the plea agreement was that $162,000 from Ms. Jones' divorce settlement were used to as the down payment for a new home. Technically, the government can complain when any extra money (beyond day to day living expenses) is not used to satisfy back taxes and instead used for personal purposes. However, the government rarely complains about divorced people purchasing their own homes. Maybe the $650,000 price tag was too rich for Lane County.

Sigh. The kids really are in charge at the Los Angeles Dog Trainer nowadays.
A (favorable) review of a book by Sandra Tsing Loh contains the following actual line, which I am not making up:
Loh is a cunning linguist who’s honed her craft over 20 years, and it shows.
(My emphasis — which is hardly needed.)
Well, it probably got a chuckle from Sam Zell.
The review is by Mike Hunt Hugh Jass Amanda Huginkiss Susan Carpenter.

I'm not sure that there's any way to do it wrong.CaptainKickback wrote:She is one of the few who has done it right.
I mean, even if you do it wrong, it's still pretty good.
Right?

A fair question.CaptainKickback wrote:So, how is it that you know of this practice and the obscure slang name for it Leftcoaster?Leftcoaster wrote:I humbly submit my entry for "quote taken out of context of the year"CaptainKickback wrote:

I am a regular reader of Dan Savage's column, on the Onion's AVclub.
So I guess it wasn't so obscure to me, even if the practice of same isn't my cup of Santorum.
Re: Porno star pleads guilty
Now you're just trying to be clever. Pegging and santorum are mainstream. It's not like forniphilia, which, apparently, ranks highly on my list of qualifications when choosing an attorney.Leftcoaster wrote: So I guess it wasn't so obscure to me, even if the practice of same isn't my cup of Santorum.

Wait ... her REAL last name was "James", and her porn last name was "Lindemulder"?Demosthenes wrote:Janine M. James, who starred as Janine Lindemulder in adult films
That sounds backwards. Heck, when Jenna Jameson was picking out her porn-star name, she opened a phone book at random and her finger fell on "James" -- her reaction was "no, that's TOO porno".
