The IRS from time to time announces the names of organizations that have lost their charitable status, and I always look to see if anyone we know (i.e., Schulz) has finally had the charitable plug pulled.
No such news, but the most recent announcement includes a loss of charitable tax exempt status for something called the "Constitutional Educational Research Foundation." Some not-very-methodical searching turned up the following information:
1. The principals are (or were) Lonnie Schmidt and/or Dan Schmidt.
2. It was a defendant in one of Paul Andrew Mitchell's copyright suits (see http://www.paulandrewmitchell.com/LETTERS/). Anyone who distributed PAM's nonsense must have been up to no good.
3. It also had some connection to NORFED's Liberty Dollar scam (see http://www.norfed.org/ld/get-liberty-dollars/index.htm).
4. More recently, it seemed to be trying to operate a paralegal training correspondence course, and might have simply gone belly-up, because its domain (calparalegal.com) is for sale.
