Imagine the courtroom. There are 9 defendants, 3 of whom are pro se, 9 defense lawyers, and 3 prosecutors.

The prosecutors have to prove 20 counts against 9 different people. Every witness is realistically looking at 1 direct examination, 9 cross examinations, 1 redirect, and 9 re-cross. Meanwhile, the pro se nuts are continuing to file their usual crap, which the judge has to deal with.

3 1/2 weeks is no surprise at all.

The pro se litigants are prolific. Back in February the three of them each filed an identical pile of Motions to Quash Indictment and Complaints and another pile of Motions to Appoint Expert witnesses - among the gibberish is this jewel:

"Defendant invokes defendant's right to present witnesses and present those with expert knowledge in the field of prosecutorial prosecution for unconstitutional sentences."

One can only imagine who they might call as an expert in such things:

It reads:

But there is only brief mention of Mark Lyon.
As I understand it he was Marketing Director and second in command of SORCE.

So why isn’t his name mentioned?

He has to testify against the others but could still get 20 years and hefty fines.
And on a whim of the prosecutor that he isn't "cooperating" as he sees fit the agreement is void.

It doesn't seem like a "deal" to me.
Unless I missed something it just makes him a rat.
And I heard him say many times he would go to jail for his convictions.

Along with certain other provisions, it is pretty much the standard federal plea/cooperation agreement that (1) there are no promises as to sentencing, other than that the govt will write a letter pursuant to section 5K1.1 of the Guidelines, and (2) the govt determines whether the defendant has "rendered substantial assistance".

Yes, in federal prosecutions the govt holds pretty much all of the cards. That's one reason why I don't do that anymore.
