A quick google suggests that the name has an association with Poland, though whether it's one person or many is impossible for me to tell. If she is Polish, then she would have the automatic right to live and work in the UK and deporting her, even for committing an offence, is problematic. It is possible to deport a European national if they have committed a serious offence, or it can be shown that they are a threat to public policy, public security or public health, but I suspect the burden of proof would be quite high there and would not be met by a single, relatively minor, offence.
It is, of course, quite possible that she was given the impression that the matter would be dropped, but has now been advised that the case is proceeding. While not technically restarting matters, it may feel that way to individual.
Other speculation as to what this could refer to may be straying into matters that might be raised for consideration in court and so, I suspect, should be approached with caution at the moment.
