Bernie screwed his customers about every way he could. He charged them double and then some for his dud doubloons, anyone who left stuff with him or had warehouse receipts lost what they had, as did people who were involved in the last round of orders, and I would suspect the IRS are looking with interest at all the customers they can identify.

I would love to watch one of Pete's marks try to pay for ANYTHING with those worthless notes. Chances are they'd be told that the shop doesn't accept foreign currency, then get into an argument about what currency is with a cashier, attract the attention of management and security, then be asked politely to leave, then be escorted from the premises without any of the items they set out to buy and told never to return.

I do hope one of them videos the triumph and puts it on YouTube for us to watch.

It may be for gas and electric combined.

However, it's quite easy to run up a high bill like this e.g. You start a 'horticultural' business in your loft/shed.

I know of a case where this happened but the occupier bypassed the electric - the £3,600 bill was for what the electric company assessed as being 'illegally extracted'.

That lot though are so stupid and would a kick out of it by using as much as they can (windows open and all the lights on 24/7) so that they thieve as much as possible out of the system - such is their perverted view.

Also, if you are sat on your bum all day doing sod all but watch the likes of Jeremy Kyle on your mega flat screen with surround sound and Stella on tap, your fuel consumption tends to be higher.

PoE seems to think that a debate about the US Glass-Steagall Act (1932) has some relevance to his WeRe Bank scam. It doesn't. I've just read up on the history and effects of the Act - perhaps Peter should too.

I wonder how many of those 5 million are nutters reporting something as fraud which is nothing of the sort. I've been 'reported to the police for fraud' more times than I can count by the people I have to deal with through my job, probably once a week at least. They get a crime reference number, the police get some statistic or other and I have yet to hear another word from anyone.

It's not as though the conman has scammed millions either, just a few grand which would cover the production of rubber cheques, hotels & his dump of a campervan's fuel running around the country as he does.
