I thought I'd start a forum here for the Correct The Unlawful Legal System Facebook Group. If you lurk on FOTL groups on Facebook, this one is worth joining. Baron Von Trampbeard David Ward is their Lord & Saviour, they're obsessed with replacing their gas and electricity meters, and, like FOTL everywhere, they want everything for nothing.

It was completely open but has since shut up shop. Worth getting another profile to lurk.
You'll have to resist the urge to comment. I was booted for commenting on the thread by the woman who didn't want the HA to install a wireless smoke alarm as they they couldn't provide a risk assessment for the lithium battery in it.
I tried to point out what an RA actually was & these killer devices were in her & her kids phones, & also pointed out that the device could save her & her kids lives in an emergency.
Didn't go down well.

I'm not 100% sure on this, as I may be out of date, but I think HMRC will very quickly start asking why the PAYE employees have suddenly disappeared off the radar.

When I was a self employed service engineer I tried to keep up a day or two per week of agency HGV driving for just this reason. As long as HMRC saw some PAYE tax and NI coming in they wouldn't notice the rest.

She does indeed run a legit business. Presumably uses something like Sage to do the payroll, she's setting herself up for a load of trouble if she does this.
She also has card processing issues.....

Bar a few exceptions (including if you cannot use a computer for religious reasons!) all PAYE is now done online, so HMRC will spot a failure to make a return pretty much straight away. You can be excused one missed payment in any tax year, but after that they will charge a penalty in addition to the money owed. If you've also decided to stop taking anything but cash payments, that's not going to play well with them...

As far as I can see, if she stops deducting from her employees and it is obvious that their tax hasn't been paid, they'd need to get in touch with HMRC to ensure they don't end up in trouble. One potential problem for them would be that a gap in their NIC record may have future consequences for pensions and other benefits.

I've been self employed the last couple of years & a simple spreadsheet works for me, but I see a lot of "Making Tax digital" stuff going on. I have no need & don't wish to rent an accounts package like Quickbooks. Will have to see how that pans out.

I got booted from here a while back after getting into it with one of their admins who was trying to use a very twisted leap of logic (as is par for the course with groups like this) that the law of conservation of energy is the reason why gas and electric should be free and you don’t have to pay for it. I pointed out that it doesn’t work like that and was summarily dismissed. It’s a very difficult group to keep quiet on because it’s some very illiterate critical thinking shown there.

Has anyone come across Stacey Wilkinson yet?

If you are just a sole trader and it’s just you, you won’t be running PAYE, so won’t have to follow the RTI rules. You will probably be under the VAT threshold too! So that’s not a problem either.

If you’re LTD and/or employing people and/or Vat registered, you will certainly have to be sending regular returns though.

Well of course electricity should be free. For every electron they supply me out of the wall socket I give them back one in return. Not only that, totally without charge, I am sending them holes in the opposite direction - an imaginary particle that does however have an effective mass.
