More meter shenanigans
A "friend" of mine is now involved with smart meters
All I'll say is that there a lot of incidents raised by energy suppliers whereby they can't talk to the communications hub (a box on top of the electric smart meter, that does all the comms for billing etc.). The communication providers do a diagnostic which often reveals no response from the meter (they can reboot ones that answer).
Let's just say many of them don't answer.
So my "friend" tells me.

How to lose your job in one easy lesson. I suspect the first the directors will know about this is when the bailiffs turn up to collect on the inevitable CCJ.

I like the "Send an opportunity to withdraw" bit. They clawed a few points back by pointing out that the person making the claim has to prove it and then lost them all again with the 'lien' shit.
I really can't work out with these loons if they genuinely think they are the ones with the upper hand, hence their 'opportunity to cure' and three / six / nine / the goose drank wine letter process, or if it's desperation and denial.
It seems rather like being against the wall with the blindfold on, the last cigarette hanging from your lips and the rounds being chambered then offering the firing squad the opportunity to not shoot you.
Worth a try I suppose.

More idiocy from the CTULS.
Yeah, don't publish it, God forbid it might come to the attention of the taxman that you're paying your staff in cash. I'm sure they're all declaring their earnings and making sure it's correctly applied to their Universal Credit though, so probably nothing to worry about.

Stellar legal advice on the CULTS Facebook page, after a chap received a 6-month driving ban.
Naturally, he's concerned that this might affect his livelihood as a driver. But apparently all he needs is a lien. Who knew?
Of course, when he comes back in a few months time to say his car's been seized and he's now banned for another 18 months, his post will be deleted, or he'll be told he didn't follow the Baron Von Trampbeard 100 Ways To Win At Life method to the letter.

He's not the sharpest knife in the box, is he? He's already been subject to more than one criminal prosecution - that's why he's banned!
Insurers famously hate MS90 (failure to identify driver) endorsements, so even when the ban ends, he's going to have problems.
Plus, he's helpfully left his vehicle reg unredacted...

Even more oddly the van is taxed, insured and has a brand new MOT on it.

Well, taxed for another couple of weeks; due 1 Mar 23; and MOT not necessary as its less than 3 years old. Cannot tell about the insurance.Footloose52 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 3:20 pm Even more oddly the van is taxed, insured and has a brand new MOT on it.
I would wager that this is a leased vehicle rather than being owned by the individual. If that is the case, the leasing company may monitor compliance and failure to tax or insure might result in termination of the agreement. Companies do tend to see failure to tax or insure as risk indicators and are increasingly likely to step in to protect their investment.

I'd bet it is insured. In the UK, no insurance will get a vehicle seized and if not claimed with proof of valid insurance sold or crushed. The police have access to a central insurance database and the only reason a passing car isn't pulled over for an ANPR ping is because there are too few traffic officers and there may be a higher priority. None of that fannying around on the side of the road that you get in the US.TheRambler wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 4:40 pm Well, taxed for another couple of weeks; due 1 Mar 23; and MOT not necessary as its less than 3 years old. Strikes me as an anti-vaxer being seduced into the world of FMotL rather than a true believer, rather like that idiot on "Traffic Cops" who had a full licence, had paid their road tax, insurance, and simply didn't have a valid registration plate (There's no "tags" linked to paying road tax system here.)

If you deliberately read the posts badly, it could be a company van. If he really does drive for a living as an employee, he's about to get sacked. If it's leased for his business or possible even on HP, they are likely going to want it back. As has been said also, good luck with getting insurance for less than four figures now you have that on your driving record. In fact, I can't see another employer taking him on as a driver even after he gets his licence back, you'll get let off a couple of speeding tickets but not that sort of history.
I suspect that, most likely, he is a courier driving that sort of van, the average skilled tradesman hasn't got time for SovCit BS.

Depressing that "laws only apply to us if we individually consented to them" is still going. It's the most absurd nonsense, but every year a fresh crop of dumb, lazy or greedy fools adopt it nonetheless.

He obviously has “previous” as the offence of Failing to Identify carries a 6 point penalty and a fine of up to £1000. As it’s 12 points for disqualification, he has clearly picked up a few more along the way.

This'll end well ...
There are, in fact, plenty of qualified people in the Brighton area who have a good knowledge of the criminal law. They're called solicitors.
